Wierdiest thing ever! Help anyone?
 

Hey i was coming home today from visiting my mom (in my jeep) and i park in front of the garage door and then i walk in to my house (never went into the garage or opened it). A couple of minutes of being inside i hear like a loud car outside, so i ask my gf to look who was parked outside she said no one and then she was leaving to go to the bar and runs back up and was like it in the garage. i went out there and i heard my car running then i asked my gf to hit the opener and then the noise stopped. it opened and there was smoke everywhere and the car had been on. i cant figure it out. creeps the hell out of me. anyone ever heard of this or got any ideas seriously im at a loss how my car started and ran in a locked garage with no doors or windows and no keys and it was in the off position!!!

It wasnt the jeep that was running it was the DSM in the garage. i took the jeep to go visit my mom a couple hours away i just got home and was inside for a couple of minutes and it started. then stopped 5 or 10 minutes later as i was about to open it

Was it actually running or just turning over? Maybe the wires on the starter shorted out? Pretty crazy though!

You have A: a remote starter that was triggered by the garage door or some other radio device or B: a turbo timer that got triggered somehow or C: lied to all of us.

Usually do but i was putting in a new fuel pump a couple days ago and it was raining today so i just left it in the garage (its spotless)

you should maybe do a background check on your car and your house for some spirits or ghosts, not to get off the subjects but i have heard of ghosts doing that as well....freaky though

Most people can't even keep their DSM running, yours just starts on it's own. You should feel greatful that your car likes you so much

There is no physical way the car could start for its self providing the wiring isn't messed up. Does any one have access to your garage?

Was anyone else in your house at the time besides you and youf gf? There's always the possibility of you forgetting you ever put it in the garage or turned your car off, kinda like a short term memory loss for some reason, but I'm not saying it happened. Just another possibility that popped up in my head.
If that happened to me, I'd be freaked out a bit though. Just curious, how was it running for 10-15 minutes and you not go check on it? If I ever heard a loud car that sounded like mine I'd go check :D. Creepy stuff though. Call in Gary Spivey (I think that's how you spell it), World's Most Gifted Psychic, and have him send the "demon" away.

The wierd thing is i was gone all day visiting my sick mom (hours away) and it wasnt running when i pulled up it started 5 or 10 after i got inside. I did hear it but we got a couple tuners and some bikes around here so i thought someone was parked out side.

I tried to start my car today after work.... Ended up getting a ride from someone home. just be happy. but really get the thing out of here. Or bring it over and have it help my car out.

Do you have a rodent problem? I think it possible that when it got cold one of those fuckers came in and is making a house in your car. Maybe nibbled on a few wires and got them to short causing it to start. I would look the wiring shit over good.

no rodents but now it wont start. i hear the fuel pump come on and there is absolutly no power going to the starter. what do you think i should do

Sounds like something in the wiring near the switch or the ignition switch itself died. Only the ignition switch/wires to it, can send power to the correct spots to start it.

If it's a manual, be happy you didn't park it in gear. That would have made for a REALLY freaky event.

Your wire is probably messed up, doesn't even have to be from a mouse. Your car is a DSM you know.

Well i picked up a new starter and threw that in and now she starts!!! so hopefully the car will be good and not mess with me anymore

Sound like what was listed on tuners? Did you notice any lose wires or carbon scaring where it may have jumped?

Check the Remote wire for the starter, its on top of the starter, just a 10-15 ga wire.
I was having a wierd thing like this where i accidentally shorted the remote wire and the car tried to start. scared the shit out of me because my hand was deep in the engine at the time. But that would explain why your car wont start now.
Other then that, that freakin nuts. I would call your local priest for an exorcism asap.

So if the key was not in the car how did you shut if off? Or did it die when you went into the garage? JET is correct the ignition switch would have needed to be on and power going to the MPI relay and the ECU/fuel pump other wise a shorted wire to activate the start would only turn the motor over, but it would not start. I would assume the garage was filled with exhaust fumes and the radiator and such was warm/hot from the car running for 15min?

another vote for spirit or somthing. I was at home watching tv and at 1am in the morning the light over me turns on for no reason, that was wierd.

You have a wiring issue somewhere in the car. It is serious problem because if your car was in gear life would really suck.

its an auto and it was messed up wires in the sterring coloumn where im guessing the previous owner TRIED to put in remote start or an alarm

Check under your dash to make sure he did not leave any wire open or any wire tape together. All you need is to add to volts to your ignition or starter wire and the car will start. The auto start might still be in the car. So, it might be faulting out. Go under the dash and look for wires that is not factory. Follow the wires and it should lead you to the brain. Disconnect the brain. Once you disconnect the brain try to start the car. If it does not start you will need to put the brain and take it to someone who know alarms and have them solder back you starter and ignition wire.

Already solved, but i think he tried to wire an alarm to the starter cause the starter kept going in intervals while it was started so it was all messed up. now its fixed.....anyone want to buy a alarm/starter j/k

Honestly that is the wierdest thing i have ever heard. Glad to see you got that fixed . Do some more praying next time .. LOL
