prelude vs. tsi

I dont know if im supposed to post this here but this is what i'm wondering my buddy is getting a 93 prelude h22 v-tech next week and i'm getting my tranny in next week and were going back and forth who would win if we raced. I was wondering what you guys think about it would i win or would he?

Re: prelude vs. tsi

You will win by 23 car lengths. However, just to make sure, better get some NAWZ.

Grow up....

Some mod lists would help.

both are stock

You'll win aslong as you're a good driver.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

If you don't spin the tires off the line hell you know what..... Don't even race. Its not worth the 2.50 a gallon for you. I'll break it down for ya....

TSi launchs at 4500rpms:Prelude launchs at 8 thousend bee power....
TSi after spining the tires it leaps a car ahead to redline:Prelude still buzzing away at redline in first gear
TSi takes second and screams ahead a few more cars:Prelude finaly calms the bees down and makes it into second
TSi powers into third gear and is now breaking the 80 mph speed mark:Prelude gives up because the bee's could not give out that VTEC power....

There you will win. Unless you launch shitty and never ever recover from that.

Kracka 09-28-2006 11:43 PM

Re: prelude vs. tsi

Back in high school a kid with I/H/E on this 5th gen Prelude with H22 was doing 15.2 @ 92, my TSi fwd with K&N and thats about it was doing 15.3 @ 93.

Thanks for the replies so quick, I should have no problem then, If you guys dont mind i have one more question, In your opinion wich turbo would be better 18g, 20g, evoIII16g, or the big 28

Fp 3065 Ftw!!!

Kracka 09-29-2006 12:06 AM

Re: prelude vs. tsi

For a 2G, the Big-28 is a great choice since its a direct bolt-on and flows almost as much as a Big 16G while spooling slightly quicker.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

From a stand still, my stock Eclipse with mods listed below, took a N/A 427 running low 14's at the track, and i had him by two lengths. I KNOW for a fact, that truck will be quicker then the car your racing.

Do as i do in most races, take it easy in first(let the clutch last a little longer) and then in second give her hell. Nothing like watching the smile on someone's face in the rearview turn upside down as you fly by him.

Don't risk blowing anything, pussy it in first gear and take him in second... then decide how far ahead you want to beat him by.

Ok first of this is like homeless ppl (hondas) vs the rich (DSM) and i think we all know how that turns out... some ppl sleep in a box and others sleep in a mansion!!

Re: prelude vs. tsi

You would take him.:D

BTW, the buddy that I was talkin about only has a 2g stereo with a tape deck. He might be able to get his CD deck back though, however it would take a bit of work. If you wan the tape deck it is yours.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

I think the dsm should win if it is running correclty. Who knows what kind of shape this kids car is in. It could have boost leaks and not go over 5psi without a leak for all we know.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

I think it'll be a close race. I've driven one of those before, they arent too bad. Nothing like my DSM though :D, but mine wasnt stock either. I would almost say him unless you know what you are doing. I wouldn't launch at 4500 on a FWD, I would slip er out more like 3-3500, and hit 2nd good. As long as you dont sit and spin them you should be ok, nothing wrong with a chirp though.

Also, I would personally go with a Evo III 16g for my car but I am AWD, I know a couple guys with Evo III's on their FWD's. Yeah, they are cool but I hear they just hit too hard too early. I know a guy that recommends a 50 trim over the Evo III for FWD because of the longer spool and smoother power curve. I dont though man.

Next time you make a thread like this, at least mention what kind of DSM you own.

Huh? Are you driving the same DSM's that everyone else is?

Re: prelude vs. tsi

Get a $40 boost controller for your car and it won't even be a challenge! Turn the boost up to 15 psi and smoke him.

94talonawd 09-29-2006 09:44 AM

Re: prelude vs. tsi

I'd say it'll be a pretty close match.

If you was AWD I'd probably say you'd lose from a roll. But Since, you're FWD, it'll be better for you, considering both cars are stock and in good condition.

LOL, like Jet said, get a boost controller. Then you'll win for sure.

But man, 10 psi is pretty darn weak.

My advice to you is quit playing around with the little boys driving their Preludes. Play with an S if you want to race a Honda :)

1G? 2G? I'll guess 2G since you mentioned the Big28.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

an N/A car vs. a turbo car is not fair. 2 Different cars, 2 different classes. if you do all the free mods plus a new/used turbo, you will be so far ahead of that 'lude that he would need to drop several grand into his car just to keep up.

S2kraka - whats your 1/4 mile?

Don't know, my car is not a drag car nor do I have any interest in dragging it. I liked doing it back in high school, I just have lost the interest since. No offense to anyone who enjoys it, I have nothing against it.

My car *should* be good for high 13's though when I look at what others are able to do. Bone-stock some people have dipped into the 13's, but I am sure they are much better drivers than I am.

You should smoke him with an AWD. Rev to 6k and dump the clutch, then watch him disappear in the rear view as he spins trying to catch up.

Learn your engine codes ;) S2000's use F-series engines found only in S2000's (F20C and F22C). K-series is found in the RSX, TSX, and the new Si among many other non-performance applications.

Better yet, just screw it all the way in and you'll be able to travel through time.

You'll own him from a dig, but he will choke you from a roll.

If you happen to do a roll make sure you can drop it in to second. If you can't don't bother.

Re: prelude vs. tsi

Even from a roll, I think it will be fairly matched, will depend on driver only.
I've met a few preludes. Plus on a roll, if you guys are in the lower mph, your fine. Higher, and you may have a harder time.
