It's a 1985 Yamaha V-Max. 1985 is the first and rarest year. 140BHP in 85 only, Yamaha dropped output to 100BHP for 86 and 90BHP for 87-06 for insurance reasons.

This thing sounds frickin' awesome!!! (Think nitro-burning funnycar ;) )

Well... I did not know that .. 140HP.. in 1985 is pretty good..
I might just look for one myself..
I'll bet you can get more horses out of that thing..
What is other bikes that comes with over 130hp.. that are older..(Cruisers only)?

Shit you got my dream muscle bike. I think you got the HP wrong. The bike remain 145HP at the crank from 85-2006. I know at the wheel it is only 90-100 hp. It is still a 10 sec bike and insurance is cheap as hell on it. What were you riding before?

hells yes, Vmax's are awesome. The v-fours sound insane! they have like a muscle car burble at idle; yet at wot they scream like a gp bike!

The one in the pic isn't the one I got. The only things different about mine is it's painted Plymouth Prowler orange and has silver wheels. But it looks like it's brand new.

I got the HP#'s off a couple of Vmax sites. I was on a Suzuki Savage 650 cruiser. A 1cyl with maybe 20hp :p

Those bikes are bad ass. I ust sold my 72 Kawi S2- 2 stroke Triple. I may have to look for a max in the spring.

Old fast bikes are the coolest.:D

Congrats! I have always loved the Vmax. My father was looking at buying one a month ago. He went with the CB919 but the Vmax is still dear to us both. Yours sounds more badass than most!

Ya it was a very cool unique bike. I guess they were kinda like the first superbikes.

I bought it for $200, rode it for 2 summers and sold it for 1K. Thats why I sold it:D I'll look for another chaepie next summer. I've had a newer nice bike Tl100S and lots of old beaters. I like the little old ones more:cool: Althoug I would love to have a V Max. They have been bad ass bikes since they came out. And that was a long time ago. What other 85 bike is that cool:confused:

They had a lot of power for their time, and still do. Very few cruisers have over 110hp.:D

Thanks, I've wanted this bike ever since he bought it 3 years ago.

Now I just need to install the 3K Vboost switch and some VGas Carbs with velocity stacks.
