New to the Forum, Not so new to the cars...
 

Hey,
The name is Pete. I'm 19 grew up in the burbs but spend most of my time over in NE MPLS. A few of my buddies have DSM's but i never have and never thought that i would. I just bought a 92 Talon TSI AWD. It's an auto and it is having trans problems and everyone i've talked to thinks i should convert it to a manual but i think not. I have 6 cars and just sold my bike. I enjoy working on cars and have pretty heavily for the past 5 years or so and if anyone needs a hand or needs a tool let me know.

Thanks everyone... i thought i was lucky cause i bought a DSM that ran and drove. Yea i spoke to quickly. My trans went out completely. I parked it at my buddies and no more than like 2 min later i tried to go to the store and the thing didn't work! UGH, Manual Tranny swap?!?!

Yeah. Two more people at the house, aside from Pete McSkeet, have gotten DSMs and there's probably gunna be another one. Sadly they chose the worst time, when I have to get out of the game. :mad:

How am is supposed to show them up steph? ha... like show you how to time your car again! haha, just kidding. We need to get my car running ASAP. This whole Auto thing is not working out in my favor. Sunday Manual Tranny Swap? UGH! I don't want to swap it all. But i can always swap it back right...

Easiest way to go fast is with an A/t. I don't see any sense in the swap. Then you will have to worry about synchros and clutch etc. Just leave it a/t unless your one of those people that just have to shift. With a couple hundred dollars spent on your a/t, it can hold up better than a m/t. Just my .02. Welcome to the boards, enjoy your stay.

A couple hundred bucks huh? I don't need to shift! If i want the "control" i'll just buy a TCUGO! Do you know anywhere that has a chart or like a suggestion of what to build up internaly so it holds up better?
