Gratz!! That is a killer price even if it has a few blems.

Dennis Kirk sucks for tire prices, but they price match. You have to pay tax too. Chaparral and Competition Accessories have some good prices. They usually have ads in all the magazines. We'll have to get a ride going. We talked about it a while back, but it didn't happen yet. If you need some riding help, I can help ya.

jesus dude! I am uber jealous now! I was talking about getting a bike for years, as many people have them. The only thing holding me back is the rents. I need to move out soon anyway, but hopefully next spring I can ride around with a bike. We shall see. Gas alone to and from work would totally own!

Color me jealous!

I've been wanting a sport bike, but I'd need to sell my current bike to pay for one, which isn't going to happen. Need a back-up for when the DSM breaks!

That is a great price on the bike. Where did you find it? I been looking 2002+ GSXR 600 but everyone is asking around 5k+ for one.

Re: New toy

I would ask everyone if they had a bike for sale just in general conversation. You know if you don’t ask you will never know. I finally asked the right person about 3 days ago, it was one of those deals “My friend has one for sale“, it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Yesterday I got some disturbing news at work and from my family, no big deal or anything , but picking up a GSXXR makes the day go better.

Whoa. Nice price on that. You're gonna have fun riding that around :D. I'm thinking about getting a new bike next year also, we'll see though. The bike I have right now is kinda like a beater bike, so I can learn some small tricks on there and get more comfy and then switch over to a better bike :D.

Very nice... I want a bike but truth be told, I am a bit scared of them. I was next to one on the highway once and I realized on person not paying attention could end my life. Maybe next summer or the summer after I will get one.

If that is the thought in your head than I agree you should not ride or drive fast. There is more dangerous things I have encounter on the bike. Like sand in the road, debris, critters, dam joint bumps, and my favorite pot holes. The honest truth riding a bike is not for everyone. I just love the way it handles and the rush of the throttle. I will take a bike over a car any day of the week. Matter of fact this whole summer I have only taken my car to work once the rest was on the bike. I racked up so far 5k miles on the bike.

Agreed. If you're scared of it, I think you'll be more likely to wipe out on it when your under pressure because of the "scared" thought. Thats how I see it :D. And the rush of the throttle is pretty addicting and I only have a 600, lol.

Re: New toy

Yeah, 600's are fun the first few years of being on a rocket. 750's are a blast and 1k's are overkill. I am all about overkill though :D Honestly my next bike will probably be a 750. The 1k is just too insane to have much fun on. You can't press it hard enough to really start having fun without being at 150+. First gear does over 100 mph. I have only had this one to 175 mph indicated. I need to get a nice stretch of road somewhere.

Re: New toy

Nice buy! I will hopefully be joining the rocket family next year, and yes I am sticking with a 600, hopefully a fuel injected r6.

JET 08-04-2006 02:35 PM

Re: New toy

A R6 is not a good first rocket. Their front end is extremely light and they can bite you in the ass really fast. GSXR 600 and ZX-6R are much better choices.

I agree on the over kill that is why my next bike is either going to be a Gsxr750, Gsxr 1000, Hayabusa and the muscle bike of all cruisers the Yamaha V-Max. Honestly if you want to really have fun without a huge speeding ticket I would highly recommend a V-twin. All I can say is torq up the ass. Even on my little SV I enjoy riding it under 100MPH because of all the low end "handing most car their ass" torq.

Hmm...I wasn't having issues with the r6 I was learning to ride on, but again it was in a parking lot at speeds lower than 60mph. I know they like to pull the front end up from what I have read, how do the other two bikes you mention compare?

JET 08-04-2006 05:05 PM

Re: New toy

The R6 is a tad faster around a track in the hands of a pro, but they are quite twitchy. The GSXR and ZX-6R are much more stable and confidence inspiring. The ZX-6R is the HP and torque king (cuz it is 636cc), but a hair heavier than the other 2 (maybe 10 lbs?). The R6 is a great bike, but is for a more experienced rider.

Swifty1638 08-04-2006 05:09 PM

Re: New toy

damn! the r6 was going to be my starter bike. I love those things, since 99. But, I guess we shall see what I get, if anytime soon.

Re: New toy

Yeah the GSXR's are by the far the best overall bikes in my opinion. And I am not saying that cause I have one. Before I bought this last one I test drove a whole bunch of different ones to see if I like anything else since all I have ever owned is GSXR's. It was no contest.

Hondas were smooth and comfortable, but were not fast and did not feel like you can do anything on them except put around.

The Yamaha was fast and cornered great and it would be my second choice. I don't like the looks as good as the Suzukis though, but they are definetly a nice bike. But like Jet said they are not for a novice rider even though they are a 600.

I choose the Suzuki because it has the best combination of power handling and comfort as well as looks. It just feels like you can do so much more on the GSXR's.

I am getting rid of the 600 and getting a 1000 in the spring. Jet is right though, a 600 you atleast feel like you are getting your moneys worth out of it, you can flog them for all they got and generally they won't get away from you, you start reving the liter bikes over 10k you better know what the fuck you are doing or your a dead man.

Either way bikes are way more fun than any fast car in my opinion.

Sweet deal on the bike man, I'm loving my '06 GSX-R600, and I'm sure you'll love your's. And I just found out my insurance went down, so that makes it even better :)
