MNSC Spring Meet -- Sunday, May 7th

This Sunday is the first big meet for MNSC this year. I'll be there. It starts at noon and it will be at Weaver Lake Park in Maple Grove. Map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q...aple+Grove,+MN

They'll easily have over 100 cars there. $5 gets you some burgers and brauts too. More info on there board at:
http://www.mnsportcompacts.net/forum...ad.php?t=29637

later,
Curt

I'll be there as long as I get my bodywork done to the conquest. I refuse to show that car at that big of a meeting without it looking decent enough.

I'm always disappointed at the number of DSMs at these things... Would be nice to have a bunch of you roll in together.

Sorry but unfortunatly <IMHO> it seems like some DSM'ers think they are too good to show up at any of MNSC's events?

Yes there are many people of which I don't see eye to eye with over at MNSC, but there are some of the same right here as well.

It's just a car.......people are people....driving fun is driving fun...RELAX!!!

I've been to a couple MNSC events and it was fun seeing what other people are doing with all kinds of different makes and models, and most people I met were ok?

I'll try to stop out in my not so superclean stocker 1G if time permits.

Next one hopefully the car will be back up and running. I'd normally take the Bike this weekend but it's the Wife's Grandmothers Surprise Birthday.

Re: MNSC Spring Meet -- Sunday, May 7th

I help run the show so I can't exactly meet up with anyone beforehand. It's easy to find, just look in the thread that Curt linked. There will be signs posted on the road when you get near the park.

I don't think that we think we are better, it is just that most of the cars there are rice. Most DSM'ers are into rice. It is still a good time and you do see some nice cars though. I have been to 2 or 3 of them and had fun.

I disagree. The number of clean and tastefully modified cars far outweighs the rice. Last year at this very meet the only aluminum wing in sight was on Jason's 400+whp Eclipse.

How many hondas were there? Primered body kitted CRX - Pretty sure I saw a few outrageous wings..RX-7 that had everything chrome plated.. his engine bay was 99% chrome. Waste more money please. It was interesting to see none the less. There is plenty of untastefully modded cars there. HOWEVER - it was a good time and it was fun checking out the cars worth looking at. I didn't enjoy getting bitched at by someone for "peeling out" in my stock AWD dsm. Last time I checked, you couldn't break the tires loose if you tried in a stock AWD dsm.

Jasons car has over 515 whp by the way :P Yes he still has the ricer wing!

The upside is that the food was good, LOTS of people show up, and you get to see some shit that isn't a DSM or 3kgt.

Another reason DSMers don't go is because we don't really make show cars. We build cars to go fast and some of us just don't care what it looks like. As long as it's fast, it doesn't matter.

Whether your tires broke loose or not doesn't matter, excessive acceleration in the name of showing off at these events is what makes them so unfavorable in the public/police's eye and does nothing but get our gatherings cracked down on even further. If you are innocent of the above too then I appologize and I'm sorry you were confused for someone else.

I was one of the only DSM's there and even if i did WOT, I had stock exhaust. Truthfully, I didn't even hit boost. No need to show off when my car was parked in the parking lot away from all of the cars. I was there to look at cars, not show off. It was probably SOMEHOW one of the civics / crx's mistaken for my dsm. lol, how can you do that....!?

I'd go if it wasn't in Maple Grove :( My truck won't make it that far.

Re: MNSC Spring Meet -- Sunday, May 7th

Yeah, I'll have to agree, there are some riced out cars that show up to this event, but they are in the minority. Sometimes you get to see some very nicely modded cars there. Plus there are so many cars there, who cars if there are some ricey ones. MNSC meets are pretty laid back and it doesn't matter if you have a show car or not, just come on out. If you don't want to eat, its free. And for $5 you can get burgers/brauts/chips/pop.

And Tauni, this MNSC meet isn't any farther away then LSE is. LOL.

later,
Curt

That's all I'm concerned about anyway, if it isn't fun, why waste your freetime on anything else if you don't need to?

Where are we meeting then, so we can roll on in together?

Are you admitting to driving like an asshat or not? If people do more than idle in and out of the lot we bitch at them. We're scrutinized constantly by the general public and law enforcement and we can't afford to have a single blemish against our community's already fragile reputation.

Who cares about primer. If works in progress are rice, then you must be king of the asian grain.

There's only one RX7 that regularly shows up. A black FD with a T78 and plenty of polished aluminum under the hood. If that's rice, it's time to go visit the eye doctor.

Maple Grove is a shorter distance than the circles you drive down in Eagan. If DJ can drive his PinkyS10 from Corcoran to Golden Valley on only airbags and no shocks with bald tires I am sure your stock one will make it just fine.

No I ALWAYS drive normal. Long story short - since the first month I got my license, I can't afford to get in trouble with anything driving related.

It was a crusty body kitted CRX that guy had no idea what he was doing. That's both ricey and idiotic.

I saw a RX-7 either last year or the year before and it was CHROME son. Not polished aluminum. I know the difference.

Re: MNSC Spring Meet -- Sunday, May 7th

Sorry but I've seen that tricked RX-7 run and its WICKED as hell and would SMOKE MANY of the DSM's on this board???

Yet this car/owner doesn't deserve any respect because he has chrome in his engine bay?

WTF?

Who cares if the owner has chrome or just polish? It's his damm money to spend as he sees fit isn't it, or should he check with you first?

Who died and left you in charge of the "car style police"?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder man, it's still a Free country, can't people like what they want to like?

Re: MNSC Spring Meet -- Sunday, May 7th

Someone explain to me where I said it didn't "look cool." I simply said - WASTE MORE MONEY PLEASE. I also am entitled to my own opinions and I say it is a waste of money. He had to of spent thousands getting that done. Just to make his engine bay look cool, nothing performance related. I am the type to go "what's the best bang for my buck." I guess I don't relate to rich people but I'm probably not the only one that thought it was a waste of money.

Also - where did I say it was against any law to like stupid shit? I'm not really into the SHOW CAR autovation style shit. Cars are meant to be driven. I don't care if his car is still fast, IF IT WERE ME I WOULDA SPENT THE MONEY ON THINGS TO MAKE IT EVEN FASTER. No one said either way was right - either way it's a waste of money. I'm sure ther are plenty of more important things to spend cash on besides cars. Everyone is entitled to like what they like and say what they think about shit. So who are you to question what I think?

Most people think of SPEED when they think about DSM's. Looking cool is usually a second thought or on the back burner when it comes to these cars, especially 1gs and those are all I will drive.

I posted what I thought about the MNSC meets both good and bad. After re-reading everything, this is a stupid arguement. I don't like cars that I think are rice and you see alot of that with MNSC related stuff. The people are cool to hang out with, just looking at their cars is sorta annoying. I went to alot of south meets in the last 2 years so it's not like I wasn't a part of this. I met alot of cool guys / cars in my time hanging out with them. JasonR was one of them. That's all I wanted to say. Adios

The question REALLY is, who are YOU to question what the owner of the RX-7 thinks!

I agree, there IS alot cars that are a TOTAL JOKE at MNSC, but lifes a learning process man, and not everyone is still on the same curve at the same time.

People need to be allowed to be "stupid" < at least in your mind > at there own expense, and make their car look nice if they want to???

And some of other MNSC owners have great ideas that become nice cars as well.

I said I think it's a waste of money. Where in that statement is there an issue. K - Going back to work. Argueing like this reminds me of the 16 year old days when I had a 1.8 with a body kit. Good fight.

How is it a waste of money? Maybe in your broken down rusty DSM eyes, but in his eyes...the guy taking out his wallet to bankroll it...he views it as a good way to spend his hard-earned dollars. You yourself said it "looked cool", maybe that was his goal. Don't be so closed minded and worry less about what other people spend their money on. If you think its dumb, then fine, thats your opinion and you are entitled to NOT spend your money on that particular aspect of car modification. Just like loud/powerful stereos, everyone has their own thing they are in to.
