Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
I would need to run this by the LSE crew to make sure we'd be able to do it but I wanted to run this idea by the members to see if we'd have anyone interested.
To kill some time between Dyno pulls while cars are benig loaded and unloaded and tied down I was thinking we could have a DSM Pull off. Details: Set up a DSM at point A. Have it tied to a rope and have a two man team pull it from point A to point B. It would be a short distance and it would be timed. I was thinking we would have 5 two man teams for the event. The winners would receive a prize and be the only team given a solid opportunity to defned their win at the next event. Hopefully the summer bash at DB. If it worked, and there was intrest we'd have this every year. There would be no entry fee for the event. First 5 confirmed 2 man teams to post would be in once the event was approval, had intrest, and an offical thread was posted. We'd also need a car that would be around for a while. Worst case we can use the Jeep, but then it's not a DSM. Lol It would be nice if that DSM had an easy and safe place to tie a rope to. People would also have to sign a waiver for insurance reasons. Post up if people are interested. And hopefully LSE will chime in with an approval for this or PM me with a "You’re an idiot" which I will reply by going there and bugging Josh for another 8 hours to drive his car ;) Thanks, Allan |

Sounds a decent competition to me, as long as you all don't mind losing to a computer geek.
Note to self: put flubber on shoes that morning... |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
sounds like fun, until when we cross the finish line the car has so much inertia that we get ran over by our dsm! lol D347H BY D$I\/I
But, im definately down for it. sounds like a lot of fun! |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
I'm sure me and ross would be up for this!

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
sounds like fun . If we use a 2g we might need more then 2 man teams. or I could just pull mine my self it wouldnt be the first time.

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Yea, there'd have to be a driver, I think. someone to hit the bakes at the end.
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
I can be the driver ;)
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Lets pulls a AWD with a welded VC in circles and see who wins.
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Thanks for the quick replies thus far, We would have a driver in the car. Jana can, as long as it's the same person for every pull to keep the weight even. It would be a short distance so the car won't be going that fast.
We would need some more poeple to chime in so I know if we planned it I'd get a good odds of having 5 teams. And then if LSE makes it a go, we'd be set. |

I am down for watching that one, you guys can even have teams of 5. We could make it easy and maybe use john's chassis, but that would be to easy. |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
SOunds like fun! I'm game.
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
I think it would make more sense to push the car. Since most of us have, at one time or another, had to push a DSM onto a trailer, or into a garage. :D
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Johns car would be the safest, but with that damn cage, getting in and out might not be so fun for the driver. lol
I think pulling would be easier so that we don't run the chance of someone pushing on the wrong spot and blemishing a car in any way. |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
You need Cher's old chassis that he went 11.3 in. That thing took 5 people to push. I wonder if all those locked up calipers hurt his times? :)

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Hey Allan, just to cover your(Style's..) and LSE's butt, have every team sign some kind of injury disclaimer/release form. ;) Back pain is a bizatch..

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Geez, sounds easy to me. I've been pushing my car around by myself for years.

Haha this would be entertaining to watch.

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Well it looks like we are probably going to give this a go. We will work out the details on a car/driver for the groups and go from there. Look for a thread to sign up in also stickied in the general events section later on. What people need to do is get a 2 man team set up for the event. Think about planning for the event as well. The right shoes and gloves are probably the obvious.
I ONLY want 1 person to post the team info when the new thread is created, include both names. Other info will be up later. |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
We'll have to bring a white board or big sheet of paper to keep track of the results through the course of the day.
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Yup, and need to come up with a stop watch.
I think we can do a large piece of paper and just tape it to the wall on the backside where the girlling and main tent will be. That will probably be the ideal location for the pull as well. Leave the parking to the regular parking lots around the building. |

so sheides you game???

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Oh man, I'm down for this as long as I find a buddy. Not sure if I trust Khad's legs ;)
I could suggest a conquest to pull also, since most have boat hooks on the front AND back! Mitsu thought ahead with those - but it isn't a true DSM =\ |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Me and fattyboombatty are down.

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!

We'll use Anna's lancer before we use a jetta!
Bzard, I'm with ya. |
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
But it would probably be the fastest a Jetta has ever gone.

Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
I suppose I could offer up my car since it is already at LSE. Just need to fix the tie rod so both wheels will go in the same direction and I guess the e-brake can be used for brakes. Plus for those that arn't as strong it shouldn't be too heavy.
|
Re: Idea for the Dyno Day. Please read and comment!
Well with the event a Go I just need to finallize a car for this. Something that can have a tow road tied to it, has brakes, and will be at the event most of the afternoon.
