The Blizzard is here literally!
I am stuck at work right now, everyone from the day shift called in (8 people). I am on some OT making 50 bucks an hour to sit here and do nothing since there is hardly any customers here.
The chefs made all the employees a breakfast buffet since we cannot leave, they closed all the roads down here for safety reasons. I got a free jacuzzi sweet for later as well since I cannot leave since I am the only one in charge. Its totally crazy, we have about 12 inches of wet ass snow. Even the plows are getting stuck in the parking lot. The employee and customer lots have had about 15 accidents so far. I will probably be here until late tonight. Pretty cool all the snow though, I am looking out my office window right now as they try to plow the lots. They can't plow the snow because its so heavy. Crazy shit. Anywhere else all snowed in? Good stories? |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
It's dry and the sun is trying to peak out down here. I hope it doesn't snow here, I have to go to Omaha first thing tomorrow morning.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Break open the liquor cabinet 'cause that sounds like a damn party!
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
It's hitting here in Central WI pretty good right now. I heard there was an 18 wheeler on its side over by Chippewa Falls somewhere.
PS- I would mind make 50 bucks an hour to do nothing :D |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Sucks about having awd though. My work knows I dont get stuck :( so I am heading out here hsortly.. Guess a couple also called in so well see how it goes at the bank...

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Took the Jeep in this morning, made it almost a mile and turned it around to head home and stay in. Seeing 2 cars and a snow plow in the ditch was enough to say "fuck it, it's not worth the 4 hours in traffic".
So we are kicking it chicken-wing style at home today. |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
working from home... didnt even want to bother trying to make the 35 mile commute across town to Arden Hills from Eden Prairie.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Damn, it was just crazy out there this morning. I actually went to school and ended up rear ending this F-150 truck just barely. Good thing his car was unscratched and mine just had a crack in the front bumper, so we were both good to just leave it. Then on the way home I saw this white 2G spyder get sideways on a bridge that goes from 694 to 35e South. There was no way I was going to stop before it, so I went on the left shoulder, got as close the the guard rails as I could going like 5-10 mph if even. I was inches away from scratching the rail and bumping the eclipse that covered both lanes. Man, I love AWD. Then I had a lil fun before I got home, nothing too crazy. Now I'm gonna log onto WoW and stay indoors.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
It took me longer to clean off my truck than it did to actually drive to work. AWD is cool, but havings 4 wheel drive and driving through 24" snow drifts like they're worn out speed bumps is much cooler. :D
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Yea I made it to work too and it wasnt too bad, cleaning off the car took longer and more effort than driving. Its 15 miles for me but it only took me an extra 10 mins. My classes werent cancelled for tonight and that pisses me off!
Wish I had the day off and had our snowmobiles down here so I could just go tear it up. |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I didn't really want to stay home today, as I have a ton of things to do at work today. But after seeing the snow plow in the ditch a half mile from home, I decided it was best if we turn around. I'm glad we are getting the snow, it's just too bad it couldn't have happened over the weekend.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
gonna drive the camry home from monticello and pick up the galant in grove, then im gonna get my camera, and go galanting for a bit, and now that I have a working website again, I can host the video, cant wait to play in the snow!
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I made it to work fine, the plows are doing a good job around here.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
For once Duluth is getting less snow than the Cities!
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I'm real glad I stopped at the office last night and picked up a Sequoia to drive. The old Volvo would've been unhappy with some of the snow piles this morning.
I saw a large plow truck in the ditch this morning on the way here. They were trying to get it out with a large bulldozer. Now that was funny. |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
suprisingly i made it to and from work too..but z-rated tires and lowered car don't mix with snow..I LOVE AWD!!

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Not a bad commute at all, all 1.5 miles of it :).
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I'd have to say my two and a half block walk to class and back has to be one of, if not the shortest commute for anyone. Plus we only got maybe 2" of snow.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Still at work, 15 hours and counting. I will be here all night probably, I will just go to my room and sleep for awhile and trade off with one of my techs for the whole night. Good thing is that I am on the clock and its all overtime. I will most likely end up working 32 hours straight. 32x50=1600 dollars in one shift.
I gave all my guys that stayed food comps to use at all the restaraunts for the whole shift if they choose to and everybody has free hotel rooms to clean up in. Its not so bad, everything is super funny for some reason. Probably because we are all so tired. Well I am taking a nap in my office now. |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
Pretty much every class at my school was cancelled today. Well except mine of course. My professor was the only one willing to risk his students lives for his vacation time. I didn't go though. Well to be honest I slept through it but it wouldn't have matter because when I got up I went and looked at my car. Here's what I saw:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...LLA/taunis.jpg Then the plow came by right after that. I won't be going anywhere today. |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
The ninnies over at St Thomas cancelled all class today. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I was at our tech shop today helping them pack to move to a new building, I got to walk to work. :) Saw the aftermath of two accidents both happening in the same spot outside the building, and a V6 Mustang that got stuck trying to make it up a slight hill on Hamline Ave.

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!

|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
damn thats a big pic... and your usually suppost to open your eyes for a pic.
it was 80 here today and my school takes 2 days to switch from heat to AC so they won't switch for a while. It was like a sauna inside. sounds like fun and like you got some wet snow like we always get down here. Snow you can actually compact for snowballs and snowmen and such, though it is a pain on the roads. have fun, Stuart |

Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
we only got 10-12. So i plowed my way to work with broken coil springs :-D
then I got a neon sxt loaner that gets stuck if it's going against a strong wind. i've seen at least 2 dozen vechiles in the ditch, or have seen a few in the process of going in the ditch. today is a skating rink |
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
I HATE SNOW!!!!! I hate it sooo much... it only gets in the way and makes cars dirty.... What's wrong with this state that it can be 50 degrees one day, then two days later, there's 10" of snow on the ground?? I HATE IT!!!
|
Re: The Blizzard is here literally!
i drove all day sunday from laramie, WY only to get as far as Rapid city, SD before running into the storm on I90, so we stayed at the hotel for the night. Monday set out at 9am get home 7pm. A couple of food stops and driving maybe 50mph max for most of it. My friends and I counted about 40 cars in the ditch once we hit MN, 3 semi's were rolled, one looked like it had exploded open. I HATE snow. Oh yeah on the drive there was so much snow/ice crap on the road that it is wedged all between my springs so when i hit a bump you can here it all grinding and shit. And it managed to get in my bumper and pull one side down about 2 inches. F*** snow.
