Re: Turns out...
Kyle build a 6 bolt that walked?

Re: Turns out...
Someone at LSE (or DJ) clue these kids in. I'm not involved so its not my place to give details.

Re: Turns out...
Dj's old talon has severe crankwalk. Kyle, Ryan, and John were working on fixing Kyle's oil leaks, as Kyle bought the talon from DJ this week. The front case showed visable wear from the crankshaft on it. Thinking this was very odd, John pushed on the crank. KLUNK! Hmm.... So he measure it, don't quote me on this, as I am sure he'll post on it later, but I think it was .06" walked.
Remember this was an automatic car for the first 100k+ of its life. So our tech, Kyle, (not the same one with the lisp and mike's old 93 awd) gets to rip out his motor and figure out why it died. Oh well, shit happens. |
Re: Turns out...
dsm's are not cool get mad if you want but thats that!
|
Re: Turns out...
kyle with lisp is not cool either

Re: Turns out...
why are you so angry all the time DJ?
|
Re: Turns out...
Being so straight-edge will cause anyone to go irrate.

Re: Turns out...
How would this be relevant to it being an auto in the past. YOu have to figure that when then engine beacame used in a MT application that the common factors in every normal CW case came into play. Since milage and use varies so much with CW their is no logical way to say this is a case of an AT walking.
|
Re: Turns out...
Nobody said this is a case of an auto walking. Swanny mentioned it was an auto for most if the car's life as an informative fact. My guess is that this crankwalk has nothing to do with the transmission and more to due with the shitty quality control at Mitsubishi. I'd also be willing to bet it was already getting play while still with the auto. You sound crank, is Chester not putting out?

Re: Turns out...
or maybe its because i owned it we all know god likes to screw me over

Re: Turns out...
Yeah...that thing's fucked. Sawr it with my own eyes...which I promptly accused of lying.
|
Re: Turns out...
.06" is correct. Normal crank end play is around ~.005", the crank is almost wearing into the block at this point.

Re: Turns out...
Was this motor rebuilt? If so, I'm not surprised at all. If not, I'd be shocked.
|
Re: Turns out...
What model pressure plate was on it when it went?

Re: Turns out...
It's rare, but they have CW'd from the factory. I'm surprised it made it 100K+ miles though. That sounds more like lack of oil changes.

Re: Turns out...
Did DJ do regular oil changes on it? I do not remember. Topping-off the oil comes no where close to replacing an actual oil change.

Either or, its a dead motor now, shit happens, at least Kyle gets it all at cost. |
Re: Turns out...
it was rebuilt when this kid prior me, cory, and the girl that owned it before cory.
and no not regular oil changes add least not every 3k. im stupid |
Re: Turns out...
Any model engine with any transmission has the potential to walk. There's just about a thousand factors that come into play.
Shitty deal dude. Good luck with whatever you have planned. |
