On a related note, a couple weekends ago I was at Williams in uptown. Somebody threw a $1 bill in the trough in the men's bathroom. I had to laugh. I'm sure someone grabbed it by the end of the night.

I just thought it was funny that something along these lines just happened to me. It was windy today and I was walking in to get some Chinese. A burst of wind came and snatched 1 bill and only 1 bill out of my hand. I had $9 because the bill was $8 and change. A guess what, the 5 dollar bill flew out. I looked underneath the car that I thought it went under, not there. Took a quick glance around the parking lot, nothing. The entire time two cops were watching everything I was doing, since I probably looked like I needed a friend or something. So I go in, pissed off and ended up paying with a $20 bill. So I walk out, and I'm getting into my car, when I suddenly see a bill fly out from under a Jeep. I was like 50 feet away, so I'm watching where it's going like a hawk, but not moving. About 15 feet away from the Jeep was a storm drain. That goddamn bill made a bee-line straight for the storm drain. So I drove over to the drain, and looked down. 5 feet below the grate was my $5 bill sinking in the water. I pulled the grate off (those things are like 70lbs by the way), jumped down in the drain (3 ft deep), and grabbed my $5 bill. It's not exactly dogshit, but I thought of this thread right after I put the grate back.

Maybe I am looking a little too deep into this, but here goes:
The ones who would go after a small amount of "free" money, are the ones who actually NEED the money The ones who are more picky about the money, are the ones who CAN afford to let it pass them by. These people are generally better off because of the better decisions they make, they may be really picky about wages, to the point that you would think that they would not have a job....I know several people that would not waste their time picking up a $5, shit or no shit, how in the hell do they do so much better then I? I wish I was the type of person that could just let it pass me by. |
