Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

I just had it stolen two hours ago. Two asian guys came in, gave me a license and took it for a test drive. Turns out the car they showed up in was stolen from another dealer. It's a blue 99 Civic Si, all stock except for a intake pipe. It doesn't have any license plates on it, but it might have a 21 day temporary sticker in the back window. If anybody has any info, let me know. Thanks.

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

Don't you test drive the car with them?

Obviously not, but just strikes me as odd.

Is the license legit?

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

what could you do with a stock civic? part it?

isnt the vin printed on just about every part of the car?

what would they be doing with that car? my guess is to part it, but who knows, maybe they are just gonna drive it off a cliff....

sorry to hear that its stolen, call the cops and hope for the best

Damn that sucks. And it just had to happen to you. I hope you get the car back in good shape and those fuckers get what they need, a good curb check.

OMG!!! Dude I was just there this weekend and saw that thing there. That's horrible. Me and Hughes were just talking yesterday about how you always see My Si Has Been Stolen threads. Hopefully shit works out, sorry man

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

sorry man!
what did they drive up in?
Hopefully you will get it back hole, or atleast with all of the parts.
Do you have them on video or a copy of the licence (real or fake) I'm sure some kind of picture will help.
Good luck
Stuart

You hear about this all the time. Too bad it has to happen to an honest guy like yourself.

Black97civic 02-21-2006 11:00 PM

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

Well, honestly, it might be good that it was just the car that got stolen. It isn't uncommon for people to go on test drive and get shot/stabbed or thrown out of the car.

Sorry for the loss though.

A girl I know (ex named Laura) had her '99 Si stolen 4 times before it was finally totaled out. Its too bad they are so easy to steal with most their parts being worth so much on the used market :(

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

Thanks guys. It's a numbers game and I've been really lucky to deal with a lot of honest people over the last 4-5 years doing this. This is only the second major loss I've encountered. I'm not expecting to get it back, my guess is that it's mostly stripped by now, but if I get it back, I'd be overjoyed. Yes, I have it insured as are all my cars, and this is actually one of the cheapest cars I have right now. The bummer is insurance is expensive for dealers, so my deductible is significant. It's not a total loss, but I could get a half decent DSM for the amount I will lose.

I figure putting the word out through the car boards might help, so if anybody hears anything, I'd appreciate it and I'll take Scheides up on the beatdown help. Plus I told the cops that if they find them, a 2-hour strip search on the side of the road would be a nice start. They agreed completely. In fact they were so cool, they'd probably bring the perpetrators back to my shop for a little "discussion". :D

Oh yeah, Hondas suck. ;)

Unfortunately you are probably right.

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

there is a 2000 that looks alot like the one in that pic (same missing parts) on ebay that is the same color and a SI. pretty stripped powertrain and alot of interior but if it is stripped then you might be able to use the one on ebay as a parts car.

Keep a good attitude. I know a guy who had a SI that was pretty modded and the cops found it stripped but after looking around all of the parts were there but the motor and trans, the theives hadn't been able to take all the parts they got off so the cops waited around and sure enough they showed back up! The guy didn't have insurance but he did get his car back... just in a TON of pieces.

and what kind of car did they show up in? Pretty crazy to show up to steal a car in a stolen car. Also I like how some dealers will let you take a car out on your own, mabey just start copying their licence / taking a poloraid so if it happens again you will have a pic, alot of dealers down here do that.

Yep, they will part it out. You know how hype up the b16 engine on the Honda market plus the tranny. They don't care. They could strip it down and sell everthing for 1k. They will still make money because it was not their car.
That sucks alot. I hope they catch those two pricks. They give asian people bad names.
Steve how much were you asking for the car?

When the beat down is over I'd love to get in a few cheap shots while they are down. Maybe for some real torture we could have Tauni talk to them for a few hours? ehhh, Just a thought. Keep us posted Steve. Hope they get those fuckers.

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

Engine, tranny, suspension, wheels, entire front clip, hood, headlights....all worth plenty. Whats the deal with that license though, Steve? Fake?

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

a blue mostly stock si is getting to be a rare car.

i could see why they'd steal it.

Damn! If you need help with the beating, pm me. I need to let loose some stress. And beating the crap out of those losers stealling your SI would sure sound nice rite now.

Steve how much were you asking for the car?

The parts on that car are worth a lot more than $1000. I'd say it's worth about $5000 parted out completely. I had it advertised for $9500.

Re: Stolen Car-99 Honda Civic SI

Thanks again.

Yes, the Sentra is a car I have listed for sale. The person buying it is picking it up next Monday. It's only got 9000 miles on it, so any problems with the cats would be under warranty. Actually emissions equipment warranties on all cars is longer than the standard warranty. 8 years/80K miles is the government mandated warranty for emissions equipment. I had an 02 Trans Am WS6 with bad cats, a common problem with them as well. It was covered under warranty at 47k miles, well after the factory warranty had expired.

Thanks for posting it over on MNSC Matt, I forgot I had an account on there.

A lot of them are like that.

People buy their car back from the insurance company and sell them for project cars.

Buy the car back for $2000 and sell it on ebay for $3500, and you got another $1500 to spend.

Plus, half of them were blue, so that doesn't mean much.

<- Glad he drives a lowly 97 civic ex.

That would only help if they find the car, which hasn't happened yet.
