For anyone who cares... :-)

I decided it was time to change my name. I no longer have my DSM (over a year now, I think), and I don't really plan on buying one anytime soon.

So, after thinking long and hard. This is who I am now. :D I just wanted to let you guys (and Tauni) know.

:D

Itallian Pinot Grigiot! Californian is good, but not AS good. Have you tried any of the Australian wines?

Lets name me "Southern Sour".

I really like some of that "Night Train" Express, chilled in the easy travel curved "pocket bottle" of coarse!

I could be re-named "old asshole" and at this point in my life it wouldn't be too far off from being the truth I guess?

I'm a fan of red wines, more than white. My favorite region for reds is actually Sonoma County (CA). For Australian wines, you can't beat Yellow Tail. I've had the merlot, cab, cab-shiraz blend, and chardonnay. They have all been excellent.

I've had some wines from Argentina as well, and they were ok. I can't remember the name off the top of my head though.

I'm a beer drinker through and through, but I've always liked wine. I guess I've never taken the time to really learn about the different types and do saome taste testing, but it is on my list of things to do in life. But for now, I'll settle for some good Hansen's Gouze Lambic, A tastey treat if I say so myself.

Well, Jana gets to pick up her xmas gift finally tonight and has a shopping spree paid for now to fill it up. If anyone wants to come out for Herring and Wine she will host, I'm gonna bail ;)

Yellow Tail really isn't cheap, you'd be looking at $13-14 for a 1.5L bottle. It isn't exactly top-shelf, but there are a lot cheaper available.

Goat Blower 01-27-2006 11:51 AM

Re: For anyone who cares... :-)

Yellow Tail is usually about $10/bottle, about what I like to spend. It's a real decent wine for the price.

I used to go by "Captain Diet" on NABR, but we went to a full name basis on there unless you're well known, which I'm not.

I see yellow tail for $7-$8 a bottle when I'm picking stuff up for Jana.

Jana 01-27-2006 01:20 PM

Re: For anyone who cares... :-)

Yellow tail s/b around $5-7 for the smaller bottle; $10-12 for the larger one. I like it, for the price. I don't like having a wine collection of all expensive wine, because then I never want to drink it.

My favorite bottle so far is one AJ picked up for me, it was about $20/bottle. Sterling Merlot.

Have you tried any Blue Marlin or Rosemont Estates yet? Those are both good Australian wines.

Well we picked up Jana's xmas gift:

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=04614322000

And I gave her $100 to blow on more wine. With the case she already had we now have 20 bottles to fill it up and get her drunk with.

Hmm, I don't know Mark..... ;)

I probably won't lock it. If I had kids around, I would be more concerned. It is nice to have that feature though.

I absolutely love it! Mark, you'll have to come out some night for some wine. I have 11 different kinds now. :D

Are you looking for a red or white wine? What kind have you tried so far? What have you found that you liked so far?

If you are looking for a red wine, that is smooth with no bad after taste, I would recommend Sterling Merlot (Napa Valley). It's about $20/bottle, but well worth the price. My favorite so far.

Luna di Luna: Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio blend is one of my favorites.
I also like the yellow tail: Cabernet/ Merlot. I recently got a Beringer: Cabernet/ Sauvignon to try. The blends seem to taste better.
I am just randomly trying a little of everything. I usually don't like Pinot or anything with Plum, not to sweet, bitter or dry.

I just had that kind a few weeks ago and was not impressed. It had a very bitter taste to me.

I have had pretty good luck with blends as well. I had Yellow Tail Shiraz/Cab, and was pretty impressed as I usually do not like Shiraz.

Next time we have a get together at our place, you should come on out. We can do some wine tasting :)

Reisling is one of my favorite white wines because it is sweeter. My other favorite is Gewurtztraminer, which is also sweet. You should try one of those if you have not already.
