Well I found a picture, and heard some things from a guy who works at the Eclipse plant. This picutre is pretty close to what it's going to look like. The spy picture was way off... And I guess we'll have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show to know for sure, but they're calling it the EVO based Eclipse. Which means all that RWD V6 stuff was all BS...

Can't they just make a 2G again. Are they just too fucking stupid to improve on something that works and sell it agian. Fucking idiots! Mitsubishi is about as oh snap as honda these days.

Its supposed to be a 3.8 V6 with two small hybrid style electric motors, one driving the front wheels the other driving the rear.
Lets just hope this car never makes it into production, and they just start branching off the Evo. |
Well there are quite a few insiders and employees of Mitsu corporate on the Evo boards, and this article, which I'll find a link to, states that the eclipse according to Mitsu, will be based off of the Evo... Take that for what it's worth...
And secondly... How many 3g's do you see??? Mitsu isn't dumb, they're fuckin brilliant!! Make a slow 4cy and optional 6cyl that's pretty, so all the dumb pretentious 20 something yuppies run and buy it so they look good when they leave VIP at the quest on Sat nights. If I'm in the car business, and people want pink cars with polka-dots, then I give them pink cars with polka-dots, and I put CD and leather in it, call it GTS, and charge them WAY too much and justify it by banking off of the reputation of the Eclipse nomenclature... I guess we'll have to wait 2 weeks to see what Mitsu shows us at Detroit... I'm pumped :banana: |

Actually that thing doesn't look all that bad. Now once the engine options and performance numbers are out, the eclipse could again be a decent ride. It's been a long time since that was the case, 1994 to be exact :razz2:

as long as they keep the lines more defined like in the pic and like the 2g, i think it will look nice. |

what i don't get is how is a twin engine awd car on dubs is supposed to be fuel effiecent at all? that beast has to weigh atleast like 4,000. but I guess 3kgt's weigh in at like 3800lbs. If it was at all close to that and its trully making 470 it could kill most other cars out of the factory. I wouldn't even want to think about modding one of them suckers though. |
Why couldn't they just put the damn evo 8 4g63 in there instead of that damn 3.8 shit? Now that would be a sweet ride. They both are pushing about the same HP.

I really doubt it will go into production because of the sheer cost to build such a vehical, if it does that would be great but good luck affording it, it will most likely be $40,000. can i get 0 down 0 interest on that beast??? LOL

Keep in mind that this is just a concept...
Remember the SST, the pictures are in the first thread about the 4g... I'm guessing this car will have similar styling cues, but come on... You think the fed govt will let a car slide with a glass roof?? The SST was supposed to be 4g63 twin side mount intercoolers and all... But we instead got the 4g64, and 6g72.... I don't know the engine code on the 3.8, but I'm guessing the new one will have that, sans the electric motor in the rear, as they are made in Normal ILL with the Galant, which carries the 3.8. I don't think america is ready for shit like electric AWD. Oh well... Guess we'll have to wait and see... :razz2: |

The car looks ok but its just not my style... Even if they launch it its only a show car. THe engine(s) idea sounds really oh snap and like a nightmare to maintain.
The all glass roof is pretty sweet and its nothing different than a convertable, so the gov shouldnt have a problem with it. Alot of other companies offer huge glass roofs now. Benz, Caddy, Gm... I kinda like that truck but a v8 with only 235 horses? Come on. |
Looks and sounds like Mitsu has forgotten about the crowd that made them famous (DSM), and sold out to the money in America...
