My Talon

This weekends projects: Delete ABS, put on new shoes, install new bigger brakes, and improve the car anyway possible.
I removed as much of the ABS sensors/wiring as I could! I painted the Hyundai VC with studs PLUM!! My g/f calls my car purple, now I can say Nope, THIS is purple! I installed the 2G 17"s I bought from Nick, I repainted them. Installed 225/45/17 BFG KDW The tread pattern looks cool lol, and the tires have a excellent dry and wet grip! I just recently Installed the Lotek a pillar pod, fitment was poor. It's filled with Prosport EGT, Electronic boost, and AEM Wideband I want a JMF Small battery kit!! and EBAY black headlights! I installed my Alpine deck I got half off from best buy, and my sweet custom single din cup holder/coin tray (haha)!!!! Lots of little things I did, repainted the heatsheild, used more pretty bolts, made safer/OEM appearing brake line holders Next weekend: Install FMIC, ball joints/tie rod ends, install egt probe/wideband |

Brand new 2 Piston calipers, painted silver with Duplicolor brush on paint. Larger rotor with Axxis Ulitmate pads. K sport coilovers, Earls SS brake lines. I also drilled and tapped a hole to mount a little bracket to hold the factory hard line (I had zip ties before (bad bad bad))

Re: My Talon
Got my slimfan /silicone reducers/ some more t bolt clamps from www.siliconeintakes.com, cheap as heck.
I will be installing the short route FMIC, Greddy Type RS BOV (boo!), ghetto rigging a J pipe, installing the GM maf in blow through, possibly installing my Buschur CAI (with custom Rick Shindly bracket), or using the stock one until I can get another silicone reducer. I'd like some crank vents too! Anyone know where I can get some rigid carbon fiber sheet? |
Re: My Talon
On saturday I installed my FMIC. It was a lot more work than I remember. I used a pnuematic saw to trim to openings for the endtanks, along with an air hammer with cutting attachment. I then sprayed some matching spray paint over the fresh metal. I used a cutting torch to hack away the steel bumper. I cut a huge chunk out of it, maybe 10lbs. I had no J pipe, so I looking into my extra crap pile I found a perfect pipe from a turbo volvo.
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/IMG_0055.jpg Slim fan went on, Blageo23 did that for me and the connector looks factory! http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/IMG_0053.jpg Only problem was I ordered 3"-2.5" couplers for my GM MAF, I forgot the GM MAF OD is larger than 3" I tried streching them over, didnt work for me at all. A greddy type RS went on also. Because I couldn't get the maf in the right spot, I couldnt put on my Buschur CAI. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/IMG_0057.jpg |
Re: My Talon
Next weekend? Put on new passenger door and fender.
|
Re: My Talon
I will uplaod the few pics I took so you can post them up!
|
Re: My Talon
Yeah, if you haven't done it already, the ABS computer is behind the passenger side panel right under the seat belt motor. There's a big wiring harness that goes through the inside fender in the engine bay up to it that you can toss as well. That thing probably weighs a few pounds by itself.

Re: My Talon
Because it's shitty out, I don't feel like working on my car. (Thats why I have another car lol) If I get my new couplers for my GM MAF today, I'll slap those on.

Re: My Talon
I dynoed my car due to peer pressure. The car made 209 AWHP on the Dyno Dynamics at DB Performance. First run hit fuel cut, the second two were clean. The car is staying at a steady 15PSI, I believe the atmosphereic dump helped with boost creep a lot.
I also put on a new to me near perfect door and fender to replace my banged up ones. I just need to put on my plastic trim. Pics soon! |
Re: My Talon
Nice progress!
|
Re: My Talon
Pulled the head off the other day, had the valve stem seals replaced.

Re: My Talon
Yeah flash is stupid. But I did remount it and bend it a little speaking of that. I polished the headlights today, they look a lot better, but I think some Ebay headlights are in order as soon as I scrap some metal I have lying around.

|
Re: My Talon
Thanks everyone.
Black housing Ebay headlights are on the way lol. Id' really, really like to get a new windshield as it is cracked and makes my car look like a pile of shit. I'm so happy my car has been so reliable, it IS gonna make it till I store it without any major problems! I have been driving this everyday since this spring. |
