This is how my night ended

Coming back over from my buddy's uncle's place and going about 70-75 or so took a coner that shouldn't have been any problem and the back end kicked out like I pulled the e-brake. Tried to counter it, and did so but induced a whip like affect and snapped sideways the other way and right into the guard rail. Hit the guard rail at about 60 mph.

So if anyone has the parts you can obviously see are messed up let me know. Thanks

Sorry to see that. I guess you'll be getting the front end repainted like you wanted though.

Thats sucks. You'd probably be better off looking for another shell.

Thats what I was thinking but I'd really like to just get by with putting new fenders, hood and cross my fingers for no frame damage.

Glad you are ok. Are you sure that is fixable? It looks pretty damn bad. I take it you don't have collision? It would definately be totalled. There are parts cars around, I am sure someone will be able to get you most of the parts.

It takes a while to figure out how to drive an AWD car. You probably got out of the gas once it started going sideways. That is just like hitting the brakes. You need to stay in the gas some, let off a bit, but not all the way. Messing around in a big parking lot in the snow is a really good way to get the feel for it.

It's a fwd

I'm unsure as of yet if it is fixable or not. I haven't had the balls to look at the frame.

My bad. Carltalon should have some parts for ya. He has a red FWD that he is going to part out, I think.

Hard hit in front + unibody = almost definately frame damage.I've noticed the fender supports buckle pretty easy up by the windshield

Re: This is how my night ended

Considering the cost and the likelyhood of frame damage, I would do the shell thing as well, especially with it being front drive. There is a kid down here named jeremy that just destroyed his motor and tranny in his front drive, called me looking to sell it cheap. It was just painted and doesn't look bad for a budget job. Dark blue in color. I probably have his number around if you are interested. Just PM me and I will hunt it down. Glad to hear you are okay.

I agree, might as well go AWD now that you have the chance.

That sucks. thank god your OK.

I'm not planning on parting out my car untill the winter But I would be willing to take offers on the shell I just picked up from Jet.

Re: This is how my night ended

I say get a FWD shell, that will be your cheapest/easiest/quickest solution since I know you are pretty tight right now.

Well, I looked at the underbody a little bit just now and it doesn't seem to have much damage that I can see. That brace that is dead center going forward is messed up a little bit. I have the next few days of starting tomorrow so lift it up and take a closer look.

Mike I left a message at the shop for you btw

Re: This is how my night ended UPDATE

Well, I'm a little pissy at the moment. There it is, The proof that I am fucked and there is no way that I can save this car. It may or may not be fixable but never the less that much damage is going to cost more then the damn car any way you look at it. Just thought I'd share and show any of you who may be curious how bad it really was. Even the strut tower and bar were bent back.. Well, engine swap here I come I guess. Any one feel like giving a helping hand when d-day comes due? I am hopeing within a month give or take. Not sure yet.. :(

Check to see if the side frame rails in the engine compartment are bent. If it's just that front crossmember, you could weld a new one of those on. Probably not worth the work on a DSM though.
