Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

How about turning the heat down a few psi and using more NO2? What is so wrong with 27psi and a 100shot?

JET 08-08-2006 10:07 PM

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

The compressor map goes up to 35 psi, then you hit overspeed at 126k RPM. I am sure T25's have gone way beyond that RPM.

I think you guys have all forgotten that those who go fast didn't do it by memorizing compressor maps and studying formulas. Josh is putting out some solid numbers, quit riding his nuts with internet theory.

He said he thought the gates were blowing open at 32 PSI. We were giving him options to prevent that. The car is crazzy a few changes and some more seat time and it will be right where it should be.

I am just trying to help him out. The car is doing great and is among the highest HP 3/S's already, that is a great accomplishment. A few bugs to work out and he will put down the times that the car is capable of.

I think he's #2 for 3/s as far as HP goes?

Slight update on this thread.

Weighed the car tonight.
3480 with me in it.
New power levels are 720.2awhp.

Last season the car weighed 3780 race weight and made 620awhp on the 11.45 @ 135.76mph pass, severly syncro and traction limited.

Going to try to add a bit more power and take a bit of weight out of it still before season opener ;).

11.44 here I come!!

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

So are you keeping the new turbo/turbos a secret or are you planning on letting the news out since its obvious you are selling the 50 trims off the stealth?

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

Well, it must run. :) Dual gt30r's maybe? Did you go to hedbergs or get some cornerweight scales or something?

niterydr 02-22-2007 10:28 AM

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

No I will not be disclosing the new turbo's. I have 1 setup I really want to do, and 1 that is a fallback plan.

The car was just weighed at SCI Recycling in Anoka. Same place I weighed it last time.

The higher hp numbers were a result of the fmic. The car has been running all winter, infact we made a video of me whipping shitties at the old shop before we moved.

I say stick with the fiddy's til you get some times worthy of their potential. But thats me, I'm conservative.

We've thought about that. Pretty much if I can sell the turbo's, they are gone...if no-one wants to buy them, then I can not afford to upgrade at this time.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

Bah, I always upgrade long before I reach the potential of my setup, it's the American way.

You gonna stick with twins or goto a big single?

Going to stick with the twin setup. I really don't like any single configurations as far as manifold routing is concerned.

Now if I spun the motor and went RWD, then I'd plop a single on there.

So, can we see that vid? :leghump:

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

Is that the weight we spoke on josh? I thought you said 33xx lbs? Still, it's come a way since the full weight it once was. if 720 on a car that's a few houndred pounds lighter won't trap better then a low 10, I don't know what will. Cept for maybe those other turbos you speak of.

btw, I think you should post that vid. It was quite the sight to see. I thought you where going to take it out against some other concrete walls or something. It was awesome to see that every hole you had, wheels, rear bumper, hell even the front bumper was PACKED with snow lol.

I was hoping to break 3550.
I will see if I can find the damm video, I think ryan knows where it is.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

What I dont understand is, you made 720awhp with "major traction issues". Now you are selling the turbos to go with something bigger but still have traction issues... How are larger turbos going to help you?

FattyBoomBatty 02-22-2007 04:46 PM

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

IIRC the traction issues were only in 1st gear, basically. All of it.

b00stcreep21 02-22-2007 04:49 PM

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

The point w/ the bigger setup is that the 50 trim setup is pinned completley, and he anticipates most, if not all of the traction and drivetrain issues to be resolved this season. So if, and when he gets those under control, he'll be able to turn the power up even more instead of just being stuck t 720

We have the traction issues figured out. All season tires suck on the drag strip :)...hoosier DOT radials don't.

I would like to have larger turbo's available so I can adjust the power up and down at an overall higher level.

Right now there is 100% NOTHING left in the turbo's. I can make more power with Nitrous, a different fuel type, or getting stupid crazy with timing (aka pushing it beyond safe). I would be fine with a small shot, but running the 50 trims way off the efficiency map isn't something I like to do.

I am with CVD, but whatever good luck to ya.
Since you don't have a street car you can ride with LB, i have a girl, but you can ride every once in a while.
Twin 101mm FTW!!!
Also, if you run a piss poor time with this new setup and my bro beats you, i will whoop your ass.
(by piss poor, i mean like 11.3 cause of traction or shit tranny/synchros, etc)

If/when you look into wheel scales, I highly recommend the line from Longacre Racing. We have set and have been very pleased with them in terms of repeatability and build quality. The only downfall is that they're not drive-on scales so we built a set of stackable ramps for the pads to set in.

Think about the dynamic behavior of the vehicle.

Thank you ;).

We just haven't had a chance to get the corner scales yet. We have been mindful on where the weight has been pulled, but I would really like to get it on a set to help see where all the weight is.

I did notice that I will have to re-adjust my suspension a bit to make sure the car sits level again for this up-coming season.

Swifty1638 02-26-2007 12:16 PM

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars

Pre-loading spring tension on a particular corner can help make or break a launch. It's something easily over-looked by many, but for those who get it, and know about it, it makes a BIG difference. I wanna see a solid 9 inch ford rear end in this car, with adjustable 4 link setup.

how did you shave that much weight? I thought that it was already stripped and that is alot of weight!
I can't wait to see what that car will do now if you put bigger turbos on.

What do you think the weakest link on the car will be this season?
