Re: Fancy Beer!
Damn, so tasty looking IPA there!
side note: my first batch of home brew is currently fermenting, brewed it last Saturday. I need a space heater or something as my house gets too cold, especially where I want to brew the stuff in the basement. Supposedly you want like 65-75 degrees for the fermentation process. This is just a light beer (tester). when I brew something good I will let you guys know! |
Re: Fancy Beer!
Found two bombers of Double Bastard for $7, thought that was a pretty good price. It's been a couple years since I had this, so delicious!

Re: Fancy Beer!
I managed to get my hands on a bottle of Darkness on Thursday night. Woot!
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
Bunch of darkness by me, but for $22/ bottle it's less tempting
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
Text me were that's a good price. Just 2.00 more than darkness day
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
no kidding, I'd love to find another bottle or two for anywhere in the $20-$25 range.
Gonna drink one of mine tonight during the superbowl. :) |
Re: Fancy Beer!
I'll go check some other places tomorrow and let you guy's know, maybe grab a bottle too.
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
$20 for a bottle of beer? I picked up some Nordeast, Miller Light, Coors Light, and Land Shark. I think I paid $50 out the door for it all lol. Keeping it real up in Blaine!!
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
Darkness to me is a type of beer I open with others around, usually get a couple people to try it for the first time, it's like getting a bottle of wine for a group.
|
Re: Fancy Beer!
20 is nothing. I have paid 40 for a 11.2oz beer before. Hell I have a 2012 22oz of goose island bourbon county bourbon stout coffee stout that is worth 100.00. I have over 2k worth of beer in my beer cellar.
Just the beer from WI for me was over 90.00 Darkness is not to share. Aly is lucky to get 10oz glass when I open one. |
Re: Fancy Beer!
Got the last Darkness by my house!

Re: Fancy Beer!
Well last weekend i finally tried my home brew. I didn't skunk it! That was a success for me. It is by no means fancy beer, but it wasn't too bad. We called it "She Wolf", its ok (beer fest reference for anyone who doesn't know).
We are going to do a pale ale or IPA next, so hopefully that turns out solid and is worthy of being a craft beer. tonight is bowling though, Surly furious on tap! :) |
Re: Fancy Beer!
soooo is all the darkness swooped up? i have yet to try one of these, same with smoke.

You're not missing much with Smoke. Last year's Smoke got a lot of ridicule for being WAY too smokey. So this years was toned down to the point where you could barely even tell it was a smoked Porter. |
Re: Fancy Beer!
The strongest smoke was the first year 2010. It will differ year to year. This years is a good well balanced smoke. Great on tap at surly. The few of us that go every week had some 12 tap when smoke hit the tap lines this year it was very weak smoke.
All in all surly smoke is a very mild smoke porter compared to other brewery's. |
Re: Fancy Beer!
hmm good to know, maybe ill still pick one up just to give it a shot.

Re: Fancy Beer!
Went to Bluzy's roadside bar in Blaine last night.
Had a flight, well two flights as my girlfriend didn't drink hers at all. It was a minnesota one, really good beers. One was 612, and I honestly don't remember the others. I have never had any of them before and they were all pretty good. One Northern IPA, two American Pale ale's and another one that was quite a bit darker. Bluzy's has a lot of good beer for those who haven't been, all crafts besides a few taps for cheap crap. |
Re: Fancy Beer!
Traded for some rare beers. Non mn beer and non USA beer. Also aly bought some local stuff.
