Sweet! Now do some break in miles to seat that ring, and lets see this puppy at the dyno day!

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project

Yes she finally runs.
I had checked everything and even swapped the wires earlier but this was when the injector resistor pack was plugged into the wrong one.
I was doing some break in today, couple vacuum pulls from around 5000 and letting the engine brake the car. Transmission is great, no grinds whatsoever.
Couple things i need to figure out:
- There is a vacuum leak somewhere i have to find, likely coming from the IC Piping due to the retarded Radiator hose couplers (2 of them).
- The Prosport boost gauge is not reading boost, it just spikes to 35. I was running it between the FPR and the Intake Mani, not sure if thats how 1gs do it. but may try another port.
- The HIDs are not working. I have one new ballast so im thinking its somewhere in the wiring to the switch.

And Finally.....

The newest stupid thing... We took the car to the movies tonight to watch Alice in Wonderland... Car drove fine there, parked and locked the doors. Go in and watch the movie, come out and try to open the door..... yeah the fucking key doesnt work in the doors. Im really not sure how i missed this as i have had the car for 4 months now. but never locked the door and checked if the key opened it. There seems to be something stuck in the lock on the drivers side, but the locks on the passenger and trunk dont work either. Fuckin hell. So looks like i will be replacing the locks in it. The funny thing is, we went to the local MANN theater because it was closer to the house so if the car didnt run we could always walk home. Well we walked home for an entirely different reason.
But i was able to get in, so thats that. and the car started just fine. :)

go off of the "P" port on the TB for boost gauge.

haha, my 1g does the same thing with the doors, its like the best security system evar!! except my trunk opens.

Thanks. Usually on the 2gs you go off the little fuel solenoid.

I have my boost gauge ran off my vacuum hose that goes the the fpr. Been fine on mine like that for the past 3 years.

im thinking its in the wiring. something i probably did. it wasnt installed by him so i cant fault him for that.

How did you get back in? Pop out your sunroof?

Awesome man! Keep breaking it in, the dyno day is so close!

If you just remove the door lock cylinders, and bring them to a lock smith along with the key that works in the ignition, they can adjust them so that they work together. That's what I did when someone stole 1 set of keys from me. I bought a new ignition cylinder that came with new keys, then I just popped the door locks and trunk lock out, brought em in, and it was maybe like $8 per cylinder for them to adjust.

Nice. there is a lock smith near me at ace hardware. ill do that.

I figured out most of the issues.
The HIDs were plugged in backwards. so now they work and are adjusted. i love watching them come on. yay.
The vac leak was on the turbo, the inside bolt on the j pipe wasnt all the way tightened. so i put a new bolt in there and used silicone on all of the couplers to make sure the seal is good.
Also put in a new bolt in the throttle body, one of them was too short.
Im sure the boost gauge is just the signal wire, will be looking at that in a moment.

Im going to put the power steering pump back in as soon as i find a full setup for sale. No power steering sucks ass for a wimp like me. lol

Re: 1992 Eagle Talon TSI Project

Boost gauge fixed - Check (ground wire on the sender wasnt hooked up)
Door locks fixed - Check (The key was correct, but the locks were soo gunked up and corroded that they wouldnt turn)
Boost/vac leaks fixed - Check (Main leak was on the J pipe, but used silicone RTV on all couplers to make sure no other leaks were present)
HIDs fixed - Check (plug was reversed)
Crossmember installed - Check (Forgot to install the drivers side one so i did that tonight, car didnt come with a passenger side one, but oh well)

Still need:
Power steering!
Windshield
More break in miles
A good wash
New paint job.
Emergency brake! (car tends to roll down the driveway if i just keep it in gear where i need to actually put a peice of wood behind the wheel.)
