Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Take a guess :)
I figured it would be obvious lol. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Knowing you and how you constantly change your mind, I'm going to guess EF4 :)
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
A good guess indeed ;)
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I am tempted by the EF2...

Do it up though, join the EF club. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Nice! I have high hopes but plenty of reservations too. It would be extremely cool to see a turbo that could make a solid 500whp at DB on a nice conservative tune and can last 100k miles doing it. Time will tell, good luck!
I was going to look but maybe I'll just ask, any idea what page your numbers are on for your 30psi daily tune? |

Here you go, dd tune. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...scan0001-4.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...scan0002-4.jpg http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...scan0003-4.jpg Remember I picked up like 25whp on the daily tune with the manifold swap though but this is what it made on the initial tune. You should make an overlay Scheides, I'd be interested to see it vs. your new setup :) |

Were you just on 65?
Your driver's door looked damaged. |

I am still at work and my car still has no motor :) Unless you meant the Honda, which is of course here at work with me...or is it? Damn it! ;) |

I'll do an overlay this weekend sometime. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Overlays complete!
http://scheides.com/misc/pics/evox/o...-e85-32psi.jpg http://scheides.com/misc/pics/evox/o...2psi-boost.jpg Big difference between our setups is cams and tubular exhaust manifold I think eh? These are a LONG time apart so uber grains of salt needed, but the shapes of the curves say a lot. The BBX is obviously smaller and starting to be tapped out, the Black has a ways yet to go. Maybe my kelford cams help a little more down low, or maybe thats just turbo size showing its face. Either way, interesting to look at, I bet they are damn similar on the street! |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Nice, interesting graphs for sure. Thanks :)
The bbx is a solid performer for sure. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
YAY!
The last of the parts needed...well basically. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/dc9f28e4.jpg I love new OEM parts...mmmmm. All that's left is to sell my black and then pick up MAP's turbo for testing and some FIC 1680's so when I go E98 I have enough injector! Parts make me happy! In case you can't tell from the awesome pic, its a new OEM oil cooler, oil pump, gasket kit, and some mivec o-rings! |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Interesting to see the benefit of extra displacement the black on murlos spools just a quick as the smaller turbo on scheides which would see much less torque if he ran the black
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I am currently trying to sell the black, I'll be running a MAP turbo this time around more than likely, unless I can't find a good buyer for the black.
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Andrew - Those charts are from when Murlo had a 2.0L, he is currently building the 2.2L. The Black seemed to spool almost as quickly as the BBX, but look at how much sooner the BBX's torque came on vs. the Black's.

Honestly, the big difference in my mind is the tubular manifold. The black wouldn't spool quite as fast with that in the comparison and would've picked up quite a bit of power/torque. I picked up like 25whp/15wtq just by bolting it on untuned. With the tubular mani on there, for my car to reach 30ish psi the turbo would've been pushed a lot more and I think i would've made quite a bit more power. We will never know for sure now but the comparison is by no means perfect as Scheides said. I really wish I could've gotten the car tuned again by Shane before it had problems. Oh well. |
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Heard back from RC Engineering today about my injectors, they all flowed right around 1390cc's at 43.5psi...so despite all the online shit talk about DW injectors mine work fine still I guess. I still want to upgrade to the FIC 1680's though for some headroom and mainly because I was getting some p0300's. The injectors all were within 1-2% so right on.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Good to hear!
|
Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
What a shock, EXF nutswingers are wrong :)
DW's are the most commonly used injectors down here and I haven't heard of a single person having issues with them. The problem is everyone thinks they're a tuner and immediately blames everything but themselves when their cars run like shit and/or blow up. |
