Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires mounted/balanced @ PTP in Fort Worth today! Goodbye howl-monster OEM Advans :) I got 10,500 miles out of the stock tires, hoping to get 20k out of these.

I hear the weather there is nice today. There's a dude shoveling his car out for 1 1/2 hours outside the window, he may still be out there or dead.

What is your daily commute? I haven't broke 15k miles on mine yet.

31 miles round-trip. I do a ton of driving though, took it to MN in July, and drive it almost every day. I'm willing to bet since I bought the car in June I could count the number of days the car hasn't been driven at all on one hand.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

In my quest to make this car less of a pile of shit with it's 1980's Honda interior quality equivalent I went to JoAnn Fabrics today and got a sheet of adhesive felt for $2. I cut various size pieces and placed it at all six glovebox door connection points and at four connection points for the plastic panel that sits under the glovebox. I removed the air cylinder from the glovebox door last week and am hoping this felt will take care of the remaining dash rattles from that area.

Good plan man, LMK how it works for ya!

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Cobb exhaust + Hankook tires + dash rattles fixes have REALLY quieted the car down during highway cruising! Even above 4k RPM the loudest thing I hear now is wind noise.

Hahaha thats hilarious. Be glad you arent in MN where the doors would probably vibrate like a cheap sex hotels bed due to the cold plastic.

Today I also put more felt all over my glovebox and after nearly 100 miles it hasn't rattled even once! How thrilling...I should sell this idea to Mitsu.

Awesome, I thought it was only old cars that rattled.
I wonder if they would give u a discount on the evo 11?
Are u bringing it up for the cruise?

Nope. Rmondoh, Planoevo, and myself are flying up. They're probably riding with Spaz and I'll be riding with my dad again.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

I'm sure I'll be chasing down rattles myself. Drove my GSX today and it's the first thing I thing I think of besides how loud the exhaust is. I want both of these cars to be relatively quiet, although the dynamat in the GSX helps a bunch. Might be a good idea for the homorod. :D

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

I've been wanting to add some felt in a few spots in my car as well. The cold makes these cars sound like a 1996 Grand Am going down the road with all the plastic sqeaks and other rattles haha

Looking good, that TB is on my to do list. When you throwing yours on the dyno again to see gains?

The plan is to dyno every step along the way:
-baseline dyno
-dyno with ported exhaust manifold
-dyno with ported IM/TB
-retune

Nice! But...when you doing this? Just curious :)

Sex. I think I want this setup on my car. I had dreams of crazy 75mm TB, mega rev10 manifold and massive LICP but fuck, the simplicity of it is just a thing of beauty. Jealous!

The plan WAS to have Cobb do it all as they expressed interest in wanting to do back to back tests to see the gains of each change. Kracka went to talk with the manager over at Cobb this past Saturday and basically no good deal was worked out. I believe Cobb wanted to charge us for 4 hours of labor per manifold. Kracka didn't like that so much so we're going to be installing each piece ourselves probably over the next month or two. As he scheduled out, we plan to have a baseline run first. Depending on whether SPC (our local powder coater) can get our exhaust manifolds done by Friday, that's probably the first thing we'll tackle. If they aren't done, then we'll do the intake manifold and throttle body instead and finish with the exhaust manifold the following week. Then we'll do it all again with my car and see if the results are consistent.

That's the plan...at least for now. :)

Kracka 02-15-2011 07:43 AM

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Yup, Mondo pretty much laid things out!

I'm hoping to baseline this Thurs or Fri evening then get the exhaust manifold installed Saturday morning to be back on the dyno Saturday afternoon. If that all goes as planned then I'd like to start attacking the IM/TB the following Saturday. If, and that's a big if, everything goes smoothly and according to my best-case-scenario plan then testing/tuning will all be completed before the end of the month.

If anyone can get it fixed under warranty, it's Don. Don is the man you want on your side. Hopefully he will pull through for you Chris.

Re: GheyrodX - bigger, fatter, gheyer!

Eby (Don's service manager) confirmed the transfer case was overfilled with fluid and documented the fill and drain were untouched with factory paint seal intact. He also said this is the 2nd they've seen like this this week.
