http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_066.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_061.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_064.jpg The interior and trunk are all painted now. The interior is satin granite, and most everything else in side will be black to offset the gray. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_18067.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_18070.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_18068.jpg Here is the dash all fabricated and mounted with the gauges set in place. The dash will be painted flat black to reduce sun glare. The gauge layout is simple: behind the steering wheel is a tach/shift light, the 5" monster tach mounted to the dash with oil light attached, then the blower gauge, oil pressure, water temp, fuel pressure, and oil temp, are centered in the dash. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Dude! This thing just got a whole lot cleaner! Very sexy!

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looks really good!

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Wow. Amazing what a few coats of paint can do.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I think we sprayed 14 cans of paint all said and done. I have some left over for touch up paint and misc brackets and what not as we install them.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
amazing!!!

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looks awesome.
I hate that steering wheel though. You will have to check my wheel out when I get back I'll be getting rid of it. +1 on going flat black on the dash, I get a lot of glare with my gloss black dash. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
What is a blower gauge? Boost I'm assuming?
This thing looks great BTW. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Blower gauges just show boost no vacuum and generally read higher than a boost gauge.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Yes it is just a boost gauge, no vacuum. I was tired of having to guess what the first "o" in boost was, besides a lot more then 30psi. I tried just a 0-35psi gauge which even then proved a little small, and this was with the 60 trim of doom. It would have been nice to look at the blower gauge when I drove the car on the street and see it read almost 50psi.

But yours gives all the idiots hope of seeing 100psi. Man i want to see thing again. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Brent is running 86psi...
When my 1g had the 0-35psi gauge the needle would have to hit the T or S to really be at 35psi, this was compared to the 5bar map sensor and the AEM EMS. So if I do run 50+ psi I do not think the 0-60 gauge would be very accurate. Also this was the same price as the 30/40 and the 0-60psi gauge. Also if I max out the 5 bar I will know by how much by looking at the in car video feed back. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I thought we were talking about john? lol
lol, so you plan on running some insane boost? |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looks great with the paint!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looks great John. Its fun to keep checking back and seeing the progress that you're making.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Brent's now up to 88 psi..
I wanna see updates..a birdie told me there's an engine sitting in the bay right now, and some welds that need to be finished, that I might just drive up there and tackle! ;) |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
^lord please don't.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
There has been progress over the last 3 weeks. I had surgery on my noise, a septoplasty and something else the begging of this month. This was done to help with sleeping at night. Here is a link: http://www.facialbeauty.com/Nasal%20Septoplasty.asp
The engine is back in for final mock up of the major parts, I am to the point were I need to save up a ton of cash to finish this project. The major parts I need: Shep stage 4 or equal, twin disk clutch, slicks or drag radials and rims, rear window, hood, fuel pump, filters, regulator, 1/2 size radiator. We bent up the front break lines and bled the system, added straps to hold the water to air IC onto the turbo and TB, painted the dash, fabricated the down pipe and WG tump tubes, finished up the aluminum rear sub frame mounts, mounted the drive shaft, weighed the car again, and revised my list of stuff to complete the car. Some day I hope to be done with this project. And swifty you looked at the car for at least 3 hours, what did you not look at? ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
^That day will come, you have moved pretty quick.
You healthy is more important so take some time off, feel free to tell swifty to get off your nuts so u can rest. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I've never been on his nuts lol.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Keep up the good work John get this thing going!

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Cash money is about all I need to finish this build. Here are the update pics, and this will be it for a while. I will be storing the car for a few months, just until I have the cash to finish the project, then it will be reassemble with some minor touch up here and there.
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19005.jpg Here is the flat black dash. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19006.jpg I added a 1/4" thick aluminum washer to the rear cross member mount plates. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19001.jpg Here is the down pipe and twin tial 38mm waist gates plumed back into the exhaust, the other one will be mounted over the alternator. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19004.jpg Here is the almost completed engine bay shot. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19002.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_19003.jpg I added aluminum hold down/together straps for the water to air intercooler. ~John |

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Gawd Ver. 2.oh no is looking great.
Keep up the hard work a lot of people are happy for you and excited to see this on the road. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
The car runs, it would have fired right up but I forgot to mark which coil was what, so after 10min of poking it starts and cams at 1400rpm on E-85 with an old map I had converted to 550cc primary injectors and E-85.
Now for the bad news, to make a long story short I was trying to get the car on the dyno and up to the MAP shoot out this weekend. But the Evo 3 3rd and 4th gears I bought for the home made Stage 4 tranny are on national back order and I will not have them for a few weeks. I would ask to buy or borrow a tranny or just the gears from a tranny but I think I can wait a little longer for my parts to show up. So for now here is a small look at what we have been up to for the past 2 months. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20049.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20048.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20051.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20056.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20055.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20059.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20054.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20052.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...ture_20050.jpg Here is a run down of the new shinny parts: - Tranny, everything to make a stage 4 tranny: evo 3 1st gear, cut double syncro 2nd, evo 3 3rd and 4th gear conversion, new bearings threw out, welded center diff, welded parts on the front diff you help keep it in 1 piece, new shift forks, new magnetic drain plugs, new throw out fork and throw out bearing, etc - Quarter master twin disk clutch - Tial 38mm WG with 1.6bar springs x2 -Tial 50mm bov -A1000 fuel pump, filters, and FPR -PTE 550s primary and ford 1600cc secondary injectors -civic 1/2 sized radiator -17" wide Kirkey race seat and 5 point harness for the passanger side -A ton of electrical stuff to make everything work -BF goodrich T/A drag radials 225 50 15's this should give me a 9.2" contact patch at all 4 corners -etc So I hope to get it down the track this season yet, but as the title goes on the galantvr4.org post, the never ending project. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looks great!!! Interesting how you mounted the coils.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Is this what you called about?! What can I do to help?

Best of luck with the finishing touches! It really sucks that those tranny parts didn't show in time, I was moving things around to be able to make it the the MAP event and see this run. :(

Re: 91 Galant VR4
I haven't looked at this thread in a while and WOW, crazy to see the progress!! Keep up the good work!

Re: 91 Galant VR4
When I made the manifold I was not looking at cutting the front of the car off. So at the time that was the only place they would fit. If I can get the boost down to 28psi with out much creep I will be ok.
~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looking very good so far John. Very impressive. :drive1:
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Are you going to countersink the inner bolts for the QM or grind down your shift fork?
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Wow man I would have to say that this thing has come so far since I seen it at LSE. Great job man!
