Nice job man! I know nate was having problems with his alternator when he was tuned before Proving Grounds....he replaced it and found that he had been running ~11.8v before and now a full 14v....his AFRs were way rich (fuel pump pumping more) to the point that he was having ignition breakup. I guess what I'm saying is, check your grounds, check your alternator, and enjoy the car!

That isn't a DSM power curve man I swear, power just goes up up up!

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Might as well update this too. I went to the import vs. domestic race in Brainerd this weekend and ran a poor time of 12.4 @ 116 with a 1.7 60'.. While I was racing I broke a drivers side rear axle.. My buddy has videos of some of my passes and I ran against Mike in a few of them. I'm going to try and get his video camera from him and get the videos up.

I was getting locked out of 3rd gear and couldn't get into 2nd fast enough and was bogging down. I'm not used to this kind of power yet and need to get better at launching my car... I should have no problems getting into the low 11's with it but like I said before its driver error.

I'm going to post up a video of the damage soon but I don't have a socket big enough to get the axle out yet as my dads buddy has the big socket set...

Some pictures of the broken axle. I'm not going to take it apart quite yet because I'm going to take it to a shop first and let them deal with everything.

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

I'm gonna go to proven force on Monday or Tuesday.

GsXtUrBo98 08-07-2011 12:33 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Ok so, I went to proven force and they took it apart to tell me that the axle is F*&KED... I figured that so today I ordered 2 of these!

http://www.thedsmgraveyard.com/produ...r2gaxlelsd.htm

I'm only going to do the one for now so that I can drive my car. I'm affraid about the axle being frozen in the hub and more problems so I will be swapping out he other side this winter.

Hopefully no more snapping axles for me :D

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Do them both at the same time.

C3L1CA 08-07-2011 02:08 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Might as well try WMD do them both at the same time. Then you only lose fluid once

Seem like nice axles!

GsXtUrBo98 08-07-2011 02:46 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

^ no because the rear is elevated the fluid isn't coming out.. so no fluid loss on taking the one out

scheides 08-07-2011 02:56 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Fluid is cheap, fix the broken one and rip it! Back left one is the most common to break IIRC, so just get it back on the road--summer is almost over!

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Ya all the work was done before you got there and it took 2 people which I am only one man.. O and the longer bolt worked but the nut on the back ball joint is stripped out so I will get a new one tomorrow and put the exhaust back on then she is back on the road again!!!! excited!

GsXtUrBo98 08-13-2011 05:24 PM

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

My car is back on the road driving! I can hear a clunking though when I turn hard left and idk if its the new one of the old one??? I have a welded diff so this doesn't help but i would think that all the pressure would be on the left one while turning left so this confuses me..

Re: GsXtUrBo98's 2G project thread

Started her up today and went around the block.... Got on it and boom! Blew off an intercooler pipe.. Fwooofta because I thought it was worse.. Since it needed to be jumped to start, when the pipe blew off and the car died and no power... Had to have the gf come get me with the jumper cables. Now she's back in the garage sleeping.

I dropped my axle off at Proven Force on wed and picked it up today. Now I have both of the heavy duty axles in the car! Finally.... Took the car around the block afterwards and it feels great. Also, swung by DB and picked up some oil for the oil change I'm doing tomorrow. Then she is ready to go! All I am going to do before PG is get a dyna tec CDI that I am going to order on Monday.
