Re: Beater 2g
Two questions:
How is does the twin disk feel? What is the reasoning behind using a 2g head on your future engine? Flow better? |
Re: Beater 2g

I was thinking 2g head because some of the bigger hp are doing it and I want to jump on the band wagon. I remember Shane did an overlay of Mara's 1g, a customer with a stroker motor with 2g head with a 35r and my car. We all pretty much made the same power but his spooled a little faster if I remember right and he was running half the boost. haha. That was back when I thought I would be able to save money, now the car has been put on the back burner a little bit nad I've been spending money or more fun things. |
Re: Beater 2g
There is something else more fun?@!!!
(i'm being serious here) I am thinking about getting on the 2g head bandwagon too. |

Re: Beater 2g
Hmm, Maybe I WON'T get a twin disk then. Thanks.

Re: Beater 2g
The twin will get easer to drive. I have been driving the evo with twin disks for 2 years now. There is no way in hell I will go back. It is so much nicer than the talon and hatch act's and the act 2900 that was in the evo to start with.
It took me a while to get use to it and not killing it at lights. You will get really good driving on it when you get stuck in rush hour traffic. |
Re: Beater 2g
I would take an ACT 2100/2600 sprung 6 puck or Comp Clutch stage 4 over most clutches. Hold good torque and easy to drive. The 2900s were always junk and most of the cheaper American twin disc setups are a pain to drive, while an Exedy twin disc for the Evo is childs play to drive.

Re: Beater 2g
haha Matt's manifold did suck, but that thing was pretty damn reliable for how much he beat the crap out of it.
Sitting in the garage having a beer with my dad usually end up with coming up with random ideas. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/df5e90c7.jpg - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/b6ae885e.jpg + http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/90c62d29.jpg = 28 lbs of weight savings and something else to keep me busy. Also painted my Kirkey black today and looks pretty good I think. |
Re: Beater 2g
:( Poor sunroof.
|
Re: Beater 2g
It had it coming, always wanted to do a carbon plug some day but never had the money and this is free since we had everything laying around the garage.

Re: Beater 2g
Damnit Brad, If you keep it up your car will look like this by next season
http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/gal...s/DSCF0500.jpg And it will still run high 10's |
Re: Beater 2g
I think I would cry if it ever got that far and I was still only running high 10s. I pretty sure I learned this unhealthy obsession with weight loss from a galant guy who cut out the stock support on his hood to save weight:rollinglaugh:
Really I just want a 9.99 slip someday with this car and a 150mph trap. Once that happens I'll really try and sell it hardcore or just enjoy driving it with the random frum rolls here and there. I think it'll be a long time before I reach either goal, but thats the plan. |
Re: Beater 2g
3-6 months then? lol

How about you come down to TX in 2 weeks, TX2k10 baby let me get you on film tearing up some supras and shit.
|
Re: Beater 2g
Brad, I think you need some Carbon Fiber and Lexan, then paint it to match the car. :D

Re: Beater 2g
Oil is just supposed to be sitting here, right?!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/91867839.jpg My car seems to hate life come spring, last year it smoked hardcore first two start ups then went away by itself. Now it has a crazy oil leak it didn't have last year. Oh well, shouldn't be a hard fix when I figure out where exactly it is leaking. Also have a guy from NY flying out to look at the car and hopefully buy it on May 8th. Keeping my fingers crossed. Updated interior pics since its all back together now. Looks stock for the most part besides the hole where the radio was and the Kirkey. Privacy cover blocks the nitrous/trunk and all interior pannels are back in. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/7a6b07b3.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/d8e59007.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/0eb889e4.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/30f20d79.jpg |
Re: Beater 2g
Yeah, your kirkey does look very vertical and uncomfortable.
|
Re: Beater 2g
Why sell it? You've put a lot of effort into this thing just to see it go away!
Fixthe leaks and start woopin some ass with this thing! |
Re: Beater 2g
^To make something better its how we roll.
Once u do it, you can always do it even better the next time. *Hmmm, looks like I'll be able to get a ride before she leaves, awesomeness* Whats the replacement going to be? Diff. platform? |
Re: Beater 2g
If you sell this, whats next?
And where did this guy from NY see the car for sale? |

Replacement would probably either be a 1g or 2g auto shell, whatever I can find on the super cheap. Or something kinda sporty that I could have fun in but leave kind of stock for the most part. Quote:

Re: Beater 2g
Update for the crappy beater:
Went to the MAP even up at BIR the other weekend and the car ran the best time it ever has before. It also weighed in at under 3k with me in it and a full interior, which is nice to know. Should be close to 2800 without me, and ricered out with no interior. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/2a73a2ba.jpg Best before was 10.8 @ 137 and 10.9 @ 140 last year. Glad to see after a year of abuse it can still run a decent time even if it does still have a small oil leak. After the 10.7 run it drove down the return lane just fine but I stopped to pick up my mom from the bleechers and I could tell something went out that was clutch related. Pulled the trans to find this: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/77b4f7cd.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/e0d7d4da.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/9d46158f.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/5860b8a4.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/77a83393.jpg Part of me just wants to hit the surfaces with a sanding disc, get a new throw out bearing, and let it buck. The other part says this is a perfect chance to swap to an auto. Leaning towards the auto so car might be down for a while :( |
Re: Beater 2g
Auto ftw.
Join us, its going to be good. |
Re: Beater 2g
Fix it and get back out there!
|
Re: Beater 2g
Get new discs for the clutch, and call it done? Shit I'd rock a twin disc!
|

Re: Beater 2g
I would run from an aluminum rod motor unless you feel like rebuilding often and don't really drive on the street.
Brad, you need to quit kidding yourself on the street car look. Block off your Radiator opening and do some aero work. strip that interior out, E98 with 2200's, and get some 15" slicks. Quit fucking around ;) |
Re: Beater 2g
I've got em beat, I just need to learn how to drive ;)
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/1115839b.jpg I like the stock look and it'll always stay a street/strip car. If it ever turned into a track only car I'd hope it would run faster than it does. Next trip to the track I'll gut it besides the kirkey, the dash, and a bottle. I'm also a cheap recently gradumatated college kid, I'll keep everything stock until something breaks. |
Re: Beater 2g
You recently graduated? Congrats man.
I didn't know u made that much power. I thought it was just over 500. Their car is named the turd its a 1g. maybe u can find the weight on it. |
Re: Beater 2g
He made something like 597 normal mode and 695 shootout mode last year before upgrading the turbo to an HTA or whatever it is now. Just needs some suspension/tire work and a new clutch(or auto) to run a good time.
|
Re: Beater 2g
Make any decisions on the trans brad? I say put it back together, leave it a 5-speed. On the street it'll be way more fun :)
|
Re: Beater 2g
Want to go auto.
But the only problem is trying to get rid of such an expensive trans that only works with '95-'96. And I know if I wanted it to move I should lower the price but I just couldn't stomach losing that much money on it. Maybe I'll start looking into clutches that are cheaper than twin discs yet still holding power and letting people shift quickly. |
Re: Beater 2g
Why only those years? Unique Xfer case ratio?
