lol. it's all good. I'd be happy still with at least a low 13 or a mid 12 in my car. 11s would be amazing, just the fact that I can say I drive an 11 second car all year round. I remember years ago, 13s were fast. 12s were insane. 11s were just insane. 11s and 12s were insane before the Evos and Sti's showed up....but that's what I've witnessed...yeah, i know those times are rediculously slow for professional drag racers but when you drive your 11 or 12 second car from here to the tracks, it's pretty insane. Ever since modern cars from the factory were hitting high-low 14s or faster, alot of people have been trying to aim faster. I'm just trying to drive my car daily :)

^12s and 11s didn't really have too much to do with EVos and STIs, most of them were running 13s at the track when they first came out and thats modded.

I think it's safe to say that 11sec cars are not low maintenance. It's a nice spot to be, though. What's the fastest car you guys have heard of on street tires? Are 10's even possible?

10s are not a problem for normal street tires on an AWD car. 9s or faster are possible, but it starts getting much harder. You can run a 10 with 1.6s to 1.8s 60' times, which are normal for any street tire. Most guys in the 9s are usually pulling 1.5 60's or better, which usually takes some pretty good tires.

Having the power to run a 10 versus actually running a 10 is a gray area. It might only take in the high 300s awhp with a tiny quick spooling turbo and a very light car to run 10s. Or around 400awhp with a close to stock turbo spooling turbo. But the times might be 10.9@122mph for the tiny turbo car versus 10.9@132 for a bigger/laggier turbo. Both are a 10, but you are talking a good 100+whp difference in the same weight car and one would walk away from the other on the freeway. Some of the DSM automatics are running deep into the 9s trapping in the high 130s/low 140s, which would normally be 150+mph territory for the manual trans cars.

I think most of the people on here ran on street tires, at least most of the normal poor people.

Nitrous isn't all that bad, you could still drive horribly like me and run a high ten but trap 140. haha

It seemed like half the cars at Rock Falls were on slicks. It is more of a luxury on the AWD cars, I guess.

I was on street tires. Sumitumo HTR ZIII's. 235-45 if i recall right. And yeah my 60' times were usually in the 1.8-1.9 range. Big area for improvement, but I wanted street tires, and that was about as wide as I could fit without rubbing fenders and no coilovers. An evo if you can run some wider tires, probably would help a little.

I run 275's dunlop star specs (very very good sticky street tire) all the way around...i think i should be able to cut a decent 60' with practice :)

yeah. I'd say if you're able to cut a 1.6 on street tires then you're doing decent and should be a big thing to help you get there. The 60' time makes quite a difference.

Those are some decently wide tires so that should help a bit I'd think.

I've only run street tires(not that sticky either), and I've reasonably consistently run low 1.7's, and a few high 1.6's. (235/40-17)

I'd venture to guess anything stickier then street tires in 275's in an AWD EVO = Finding weak links.. $$. Even with street tires, we'll see how it goes for these guys. Could get expensive fast.

There is more to running 10's or faster then just making power. Those who have tried, know this, those who haven't will know when they get there.

Racing in general is humbling(drag race, road race, whatever..) when you actually do it.

Racing is a strong word for what most of us are doing. I'm just trying to keep my car from being bored. If it ran right then I'd be failing miserably...
