Re: Evo X upgrades
Given my budget, I decided to try putting in some wiring that I had on hand. I ran an 8ga wire from the engine bay and a different ground for the Bosch. I'll test that out tomorrow. It started and ran, anyway.
I plan to order a proper 4ga setup but that'll take another week since I need to drill the firewall and will have to go to Dad's for that. I should buy a battery-powered drill one of these days. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
I feel the end is nearing, there isn't much left. good luck agin man.

I gained 1-2psi at idle just from the wiring change and that's probably a good sign. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
The 8ga from the engine bay didn't change anything so I assume a 4ga wouldn't either.
I have one of those Jay Racing 044's on the way--should arrive Wed. I'll still do power distribution blocks in the trunk (that should arrive Tues) since I don't like how messy it looks right now. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
power distribution blocks are awesome, i love mine.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Here's the Jay Racing 044. The brand-name on it is Protec. They bench test every pump prior to shipment so swapping this in tonight should answer that question.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Ever done something that you knew was a bad idea because it would "only be a few minutes" or something like that?
I figured I'd be fine using an un-fused lead to prime my fuel pumps and I was reminded how powerful electricity is when messed with. Don't worry, the battery is fine. http://i959.photobucket.com/albums/a...omker/hand.jpg |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Whoah kidding about the burning I thought!
I've had a burn like this before, almost lost my brother's beautiful blue 1G to it....someone ran an unfused power lead *around* a gromet in the firewall. Grrrrrr! I had holes in my fingers but not quite as bad as yours. Of course my forearm was all red and black from the flames though :( |
Re: Evo X upgrades
LOL Ouch!!

Re: Evo X upgrades
Wow, that's nuts. I'm surprised the wire didn't just melt. A guy I raced RC with long ago wired his batteries with the male connector on the battery. I warned him a few times about it (I was in high school, what did I know?) but he proclaimed he had always done it that way. Long story short is one day one of the leads touched and welded themselves to his gold wedding ring. His ring finger ended up looking about like yours.

Re: Evo X upgrades
So did you get the pump in though?
Oh...and ouch! |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Haha ouch! Ive melted one wire like that while wiring up a switch in my old 1g, I flipped the switch and the wire melted the plastic right off, so I turned it back off. No injuries haha.
