Yes, yes I do know...I drove my X to dinner last night and to work today, how about you? :)

Actually, I just got approval from the boss (gf) to put mine back together on the cheap. No sweet t4 kit this year but I am going STS now :) I think 420whp on a stock turbo is in my future with e85, boost and high compression :)

So I will get to drive it this year! Ordering parts Tuesday.

Spending 1000's on a silly car when we are discussing marriage etc, seems like common courtesy to me. I probably didn't phrase it right, she isn't my boss, but like any significant other, spending a lot without asking will lead to nonsense later. It was a 3 second conversation and I just said I was going to put my car back together on the cheap. I promised her a ring this summer so I don't want her to think I am spending that money on my car...that is all I was trying to say.

Very nice Chris.

In 12 years I have not had to ask Aly to work on or buy stuff for the cars.

Geez tough crowd here. I will just keep mouth shut from now on lol.

When you spend thousands upon thousands on a car that sits non active year after year I guess I thought it was smart to get someone financially smarter than I's opinion.

Maybe I should stick to my old ways, disregard females acquire car part.

I'd say mostly right.

Disregard bitchy/unsupportive females and do what makes you happy.

I think its pretty awesome that Chris has such a reliable/fun car that his mods are oil changes, summer tires and new plugs! Keep up the good work

I still haven't disclosed the full mod price list to Emily, she would flip if she found out how much the shocks for my car cost, haha. I do enjoy separate accounts for now, and we agreed that my "fun" account can be used for whatever I want, but I think that is going to change after we have a kid.

I love this car. I don't drive it enough...it makes me feel like a million bucks!

Took it on our nice 700-ish mile spring cruise through dust, bumpy/sandy roads, rain, etc and absolutely had a blast! Hung with Kevin's SV1000 pretty damn well (though he kept going another gear more than me before looking back so he claims bus-lengths lol!), did a little walkin away from Brandon's Evo9 race car, and drove prego Aly allll the way home no problem.

Well, allllllmost pretty well :D Popped off the UICP at one point...reattached it and before long I checked again and this:

Fek. My front motor mount must be giving a little or something idk. Decided to try a KISS fix:

Nice and easy except the new 4-ply coupler was soooo thick it was tough to get the original t-bolt clamps back on! No major issues yet but will watch it as the summer goes on.

Also, idk if its just the fact that I have a STS evo9 in the garage now too but this thing is doggy again. I think something is up with the wastegate or flapper...something doesn't seem quite right. I checked the WGA and there's still plenty of pre-load on it. It still rips at 32psi up top but something just isn't perfect about it. And right on time for proving grounds too! So, I'll bring the IX up there and this thing will be my fun street car for now...I'll mess with the turbo setup whenever I get around to it, the car is still so so fun.

Makes me want an evo

Re: beaterX project thread

I always thought my ef4 was "doggy", not awful but it lacked pep down low. But it ripped up top which is why I liked it. And for some reason, I thought it smart to go t4 after that lol. It could be a turbo issue but I think its just the wheel sizes in the stock frame honestly, but worth monitoring. Even my 2.2L didn't help to make it kick down low.

I'll let you try my new/improved STS X when I get it running to compare :)

Re: beaterX project thread

Hah I had a stock turbo on this thing when I got it, it was very fun! Honestly I'll probably just leave it unless it is actually an issue. I have thought about swapping in a stock turbo but really an ef3 is what this car needs longterm. EF4 is not bad though, it rips! Just different from my IX, that's all :)

Good news, you have a STS evo 9, so good to have variety, best of both worlds! :)
