-- I'm going to stop fucking around with the ID2000 injectors. It doesn't look they are ever going to be 'drivable' in any real sense. It's noticeably better now with the settings that Tephra has found but idling and not misfiring even 99% of the time will still result in endless CELs and embarrassment when the car dies in heavy traffic. I have a set of DW1300's on the way. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
That sucks man :( Glad you're making progress though.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Oh snap, I'll give you 100 bucks for those used 2000's.

My problem is that the ID's and the intake seem to have turned one problem with my car into three. 1) AFR fluctuations at cruise that spike up into the 18's and cause the car to slow down, for lack of a better term. I assume this is a problem with the intake design since I experienced a similar (but more severe) version of that before the intake was scaled. 2) The car idles at 14.5-14.7afr on cold start but it idles at 13.2-13.4 the rest of the time (on my gauge). When I go to leave a stoplight the car bogs/stumbles/dies when trying to transition from 1k-2k rpms (where I normally let out the clutch). If the injectors are too large to transition smoothly from idle then they have to go. If there's another table that can be tweaked for this then cool. 3) The fuel pressure drop above 7k rpms. I have a new fuel filter and BAP installed. An afpr should go in sometime this week. Not sure if this stuff will solve it but it's the last reasonable set of things to do before ripping the Full Blown system out. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
That sucks, I have only heard good things about the ID injectors besides them possibly having issues on your car.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Crazy. Are you presently needing 2000cc of injector? I guess if not, don't use 'em.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Several people have tuned the DW1300's to work fine, so I think they CAN work, but it might take some time.
Do you maybe have that issue with your return line that I think a few people saw? Or maybe that was just the in tank line for filling the pump setup...can't remember now. |

He sent me an email suggesting that we swap the 1000's back in so that I can verify that the intake is 100%. That seemed like a good idea. I'm going to try to do that this week. I just need to get one of the ROMs that he used on the dyno. Quote:
That problem causes excessive fuel pressure until the pump burns out. I'd be THRILLED to have excessive pressure right now, for any reason. haha. |
Re: Evo X upgrades
I've heard spotty things on the DW1300's as well, so I'll be curious to see how you like them; the weirdest problem being that they're loud. I've never had loud injectors until I put in the dw800's and if the dw1300's are excessively loud that is just plain weird to me!
They seem like the right size to get though so I wouldn't be afraid to use them. So this is now your 4th set of injectors? Goddamn, might as well build a custom IM that supports 4x fuel rails to round off your mammoth fueling system :D |

Re: Evo X upgrades
I think the DW1300's will work honestly. Should you be a little nervous...with your luck lately, sure, lol.
But I trust DW, I know people have gotten them to work, so I think Shane can get them to work. You should be able to recoup most of the ID cost I would think, even used those have to be worth 500+. And the DW1000's are popular, so those should be an easy sell. Yea you will lose out on some but in the end it will work out hopefully. |

Re: Evo X upgrades
I'm going to ditch the PLX OBDII gauge that I'd purchased. I determined that when it is connected to the ECU that the NAV doesn't work. It doesn't provide information that is useful when driving hard and it doesn't log so it's a waste of time. I think I'll just get Tactrix logging set up like scheides does (hopefully that doesnt F with the NAV).
I'm going to put a Prosport fuel pressure gauge in that second pod. http://i959.photobucket.com/albums/a...fuelpress2.jpg |
Re: Evo X upgrades
Swapped my injectors in DB's parking lot this evening. The DW1000's brought the car back to life. The AFRs are still wild at cruise. Either it's the intake or my stock fpr isn't doing it's job anymore.
I think I'll leave the intake on if it doesn't cause CELs to be thrown. |
