well I'd rather have it reading too high so you get a lower power/safer tune then reading low.

I will confirm with my wideband on the street which will be a better judge.

Well, my AFRs were not a point off at RS. Shane has told me that he uses one of the most expensive widebands and I doubt he'd do so if he didn't think it mattered.

AFR's on the short runner didn't change at all really. We are swapping that out for the next manifold now.

Looks like average gains of 25ish whp 13 wtq.

Graphs and stuff will be done later tonight or tomorrow night. I guess it will depend on when I get all those graphs.

I've never been on Map's dyno but my wideband showed exactly what it did when Shane tuned all of my cars. I'd go with Shane's dyno being a bit more accurate.

Do you have any examples of this? We obviously start with a baseline and I can't recall a car leaving with less power than when it came in...

I guess I haven't heard that either Chris.

I didn't want to start a debate about how the widebands read, was just curious if others see the same thing. It sounds like they do.

I will confirm with the wideband I just bought from MAP this weekend or next week sometime and report back.

The tail sniffers are never perfect and everything is prone to error to some degree.

Yep I agree the absolute best option is a permanent install further up stream, next time we get a car with one on the dyno I'll be sure to compare both readings.

Of course not, no one would ever post this online. It's all been word of mouth.

Well we broke the stock ECU Evo 8/9 record twice using this wideband and I trust it with my personal car. Cars don't come in here for tuning and leave with less power unless they are knocking and on the ragged edge, in which case we did the customer a favor. /rant

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

Well...very very interesting results so far. I honestly am a little dumbfounded that we got what we did with the FID.

The FID still picked up power over the stock ported mani...but was basically put to shame by the short runner from MAP. We are starting to wonder if the short runner is the BALLS of all the manifolds, lol. Still have the MAP long runner to test.

Now timing seems to be very consistent on all of these runs we are doing. I think the AFR's are all pretty close as well.

I am going to put graphs up later of the logs for timing/boost etc but wow is all i can say...the short runner had 20whp over the FID for their best runs. Average was closer to 10-12ishwhp over. Keep in mind we didn't do any tuning at all...just been watching AFR's and knock so far.

Yes, by a good margin. Jordan and myself were quite surprised actually.

Your car is such a dyno queen. Gosh...

I cannot refute that lol. It has seen many dyno passes. I hope to spend more time driving than dynoing this summer though ;)

LOL @ FiD domination, that's crazy! Now I'm really interested to see how that MAP long-runner does!

Me too! Long day of sitting here on MAP's couch...ran out of stuff to even look at on the internets.

So... results of the long runner?

And I'll add my car to the list as another that's reported a full point leaner on MAP's dyno.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog

We didn't get to the long runner we called it around 6:15 or so last night. I am heading back there around 3:00ish today and we are going to finish up. We actually got a lot done yesterday, more than Chris expected. They were almost done installing yet another manifold when I left so they were going to save some of that for today.

I should have the rest of the results later today hopefully.

By the time I got home and made dinner I was wiped...didn't get any sleep sunday night as I knew I had monday off :) So I went home and basically fell asleep.
