Swanny's typing in his sleep again. Obviously dreaming :D I swore I saw the car today tucked away in the corner with dunce cap on it :D

I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Good work man! Good luck getting it finished up soon.
...And here I was hoping to walk all over that thing with my uberscooter. Now that it is going to move under its own power I'm going to have to re-think my strategy a bit... ;) |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
SWEET!! mabey I'll get to hear it run this time

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Alright jokes over.
Went to the track tonight, only got in 3 runs, as I have a pressure issue in my coolant system, and no its not the heads lifting, already checked that. 14 gallons of gas, 92 octane :). I didn't touch the aem other than to log, and I didn't touch the tires, just slapped in my side bars, and hooked-up my kill switch. 1st pass, I wasn't allowed to launch. 60' 2.292 330' 5.882 (to say it bogged hard is an understatment) 1/8 8.558 1/8mph 92.40mph 1000 10.796 1/4 12.624 1/4mph 125.01 2nd pass...launched 60' 1.779 GRIND I coudln't get into 2nd, so I aborted the run, went 14.98 @ 90.58mph. 3rd and last pass 60' 1.919 ( turned up the rear suspension, bad idea I guess) 330' 5.070 1/8 7.681 mph 94.97 1000 11.657 mph 127.08 That run I had to grind and wait for 2nd and 3rd gear took 75-100' to get in. Clutch engagement issues FTL! Now my 2nd gear syncro is shot, woohoo :(. I guess I knew it was coming, 114k on a stock transmission. Still, for the 1st time out to the track with this setup, I am not to dissapointed. Now if I can get the gears to work, the coolant thing figured out, and the 60's down ;). |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
So how does July 9th sound for our little race? ;)
Chris Oops posted this as Bill, This is Chris aka v8klla |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Nice runs for just coming off the trailer. That's a decent trap, especially for pump piss, I bet she'd scream with some real gas and boost.
Yeah, last time I set my rear Koni's to stiff, I fishtailed and almost hit the wall. The AWD's seem to like some rear weight transfer. |

Yeah I nearly fucking bit it. The car hopped 3 times in the rear then I ground 2nd (woot!) and all was fine. The 1.779 60' was nice, not to hard of a launch, but it spun flat and stayed straight, just what I want. |

I need a t-case and driveshaft, and a new trans now :(. It might work, I'll be at rock, but probably on pump still, until I hit a 10. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Nice times!! Good to see its back up and running!!! I want to see it in person.
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Very nice traps Josh. Like you said, get the launch and shifting down and you will put out some impressive numbers on pump. I wanna see the race gas already.
Where was this btw? |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Runs were at BIR. We decided its race gas time next weekend.
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Once it's tuned you gonna release dyno figures, that would be pimp. Glad to see it's running!
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I really think we could have gotten some better runs in, but with having to wait for the car to cool down, so that we could replace the coolant that it keeps deciding it doesn't want, we were only able to get in 3 runs.
Looks like we're gonna go next weekend and put some times down on race gas. Once we're satisfied there, we'll be back to work on pump. Need to get that suspension sorted out, and that takes a lot of launches and number crunching to get right. I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunity to get that handled next weekend in Iowa ;) |

We've done an exhaust test analysis of the coolant system, came up with nothing....I am going to pressurize the coolant stream tonight and re-do the test. I need to get to the bottom of this. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I would go with the headgasket/s as well. Considering the boost you are running combined with pump gas. You never really posted details about the rebuid unless I missed them. How did you break in the new motor? Or did you? Did you do any other work other than internals?
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I haven't heard of any problems with dual ball bearing Garrett turbos, they are usually more reliable than the normal journal bearing turbos. There have been a lot of problems with the HP version of Cometic headgaskets though. They supposedly discontinued them and only sell the MLS one now.
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Yeah, I am running the stocker MLS.
It could be a bad headgasket, but it isn't showing up in anything, I am doing another compression/leakdown test to check for it. God I do NOT want to pull the heads off. Im going to do a comp test, break loose the studs, torque them to 100 and see if it fixes it. If not, its time to tear shit down. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I put a MLS on my car last year and it popped immediately for no apparent reason. I put the HP on and that seems to be fine. Looks like I will use a mitsu metal in the future if this one goes.

Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Well got the nitrous figured out.
784.8AWHP, 660.1AWTQ 32psi +c-16 and 60 shot n20 1)My turbo's and intercoolers are pinned, only way to make more power is to add more nitrous, and I probably will. 2)I wanna go single next year, I am tired of the lag and heat, time to look at gt42's. 3)The car pulls 3061lbs of tractive effort in 3rd gear, that is nearly .8 g's of acceleration in 3rd gear!! I am going to Rockfalls in a few hours, wish me luck. |
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Good luck. Go single and a nice huge intercooler.
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
Singles are for pussies!
|
Re: Finally getting stuff done on our cars
I really doubt the turbo's are maxed, 392 whp for each 50 trim shouldn't be stressing it too much. The IC's though, I am sure they are totally maxed. Good luck at the track!
