Tint pros. Brad gets all of his cars tinted there. So next weekend it should be running?

+1 for them, I think Aaron and Rosey just got their cars done by them at AJ's annual tint day.

Carbon hatch looks amazing, can you give us weight details compared to stock once you get that lexan?

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Thanks I think the hatch looks amazing to!

Yeap I can post the difference as I'm curious to.

It "should" be running by Sunday. Crossing fingers and all 11 toes ;)

Tint pros it is. Won't do that till after my tune but it's good to plan ahead.

Going to bolt the glass with flush-mount allen bolts, just need to take my time and triple measure everything and be extra careful. To be able to mount the locknuts underneath for the flush-mount allen bolts the underside of the hatch needs to slightly modified...

OEM hatch/2GA spoiler/glass weight: 72 lbs.
Carbon fiber hatch/FAL speedglass weight: 38lbs

Weight reduction: 34lbs

34 lbs total weight saved!

evotuner 05-19-2013 01:35 PM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Picked up some jic coilovers

http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps468695da.jpg

Got a few people lined up for the weekend install. Also got the ok from the better half.

asshanson 05-20-2013 03:38 AM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Hell of a deal you got on those, nice! I think I paid about the same for some used KSports which sucked.
Also sweet on the 34 lbs weight saved on the hatch alone, and on the top end of the car. Do you have the lexan for it yet?

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Nope need to order soon. It's in stock so I can see it within 5 days once its ordered.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Thanks Brad. Car is kinda getting out of hand. I didn't know I was gonna take it this far.

Just sent an email to frontlinefab to see how long of a wait it will be for a 2G awd bolt in tank. So I'm waiting for a response.

There's gonna be a crazy part out come September if I don't end up keeping my black shell.

Harness showed up today! Thanks Andrew. Should work for what I need to accomplish as long as tech doesn't get to picky.

http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps77f207d5.jpg

Got my Greddy MBC today to. (Mail lady was like wait you have 2 ;) )
From what I read its similar to a grim speed 1 click per psi. Got it on a trade so no money out of my pocket so ill give it a shot.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Why that steering wheel?????

CornFed2.4 05-21-2013 01:41 AM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

I gotta pull one of the boosts and put in my auto temp one.

Also just put the narrow band in there to see if I cut the hole right.

Why the steering wheel? Cause its better than rocking a stock one with airbag for track days.

Also huge thanks to Tyler, Miles and Joel. Got a lot more done than I thought I would which is awesome considering we didn't start doing anything till 6:30 tonight.

Got the JIC coilovers installed, trans bolted to the motor with the kiggly kit, and the motor installed in the car. Also swapped rear rotors out for the slotted ones I had sitting here.

On to the pics.

Any suggestions for break in. 10-30 conventional with zinc additive? I'd research but back at work and have no free time but would like to pick up today or tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.

turbotalon1g 05-21-2013 10:12 AM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

New motor? I'd just a dino oil and put in some additive maybe.

Someone made a post about oil somewhere, i don't remember. But don't worry about it too much, oil is dependent on tolerances used more than anything from what I've been told.

VR1 non syn with an additive. Done. Thanks!

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Hey that's my thread! Most of that is already after initial break in in my thread. What I did was just put in some really cheap 30wt for initial start up. I ran it for 20min between 2k and 3k rpms varying it the whole time. Then i put in amsoil break in oil. Ran that for the first 30 miles then changed the oil. Then i put in amsoil break in oil again and ran that to 250 miles then changed to a couple conventional.

Regular conventional though too

The traditional school of thought was to use a non-detergent oil with no friction modifiers, so the rings had more friction to establish their wear patterns against the cylinder walls.

The people over at Bob is the Oil guy keep finding high concentration of Molybdenum in new cars when they preform a UOA, so that kind of blows the old school theory out of the water.

Frankly, I'm not sure what to believe any more.

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

So what about rotella t5 with a zinc additive. Rotella is what I plan on running once is broken in to.

Thanks Shawn. Ill figure this out kinda wanna start it tonight!

4seasons69 05-21-2013 10:47 AM

Re: 2G auto S/A daily

Map usually has amsoil break in oil in stock ;-) it's like 7 bucks a quart. Let me know if you do start her up. If I'm off work I'll swing up if you want a hand

Now in stupid carpet layer talk. Lol.

But yeah I don't think it matters as long as you get that zinc in there.
