Indeed it did. This was supposedly an upgraded one made of stronger aluminum than the one that broke on Swifty. Jay now offers that bracket made out of steel.

I was able to take a look at the talon today to see why it wasn't charging. I was not looking forward to dealing with charging issues. Luckily it's just the alternator relocation bracket broke. So it's an easy fix. I was able to get a hold of jay from Jay racing and he said he can ship a new one out tomorrow. It was either another aluminum one free of charge or an upgraded steel one for $25. I went with the steel one to hopefully avoid this issue in the future.

Badass, glad to hear its something easy and not too expensive!

Yeah me too! It was a first for me and this car lol

Well I got the new alt bracket yesterday. Being steel It is definitely a lot heavier or a lot more stout. Hopefully I won't have any problems with this one for a long time. I put the car back together tonight. I just need to charge the battery and fire her up.

I'm waiting on a vband and clamp clamp for my exhaust. Hopefully it will be here early next week. As of right now it's setup to swap turbos and have the exhaust done next Saturday. I'm really just hoping things go smoothly and as planned over the next few weeks so I can finally have some fun with this bish.

Well finished up the car tonight. Charged up the battery and fired her up. Still wasn't charging. The alt fuse blew. Put a new fuse in and she's good to go charging at 14.3v :-).

Also got the stuff for the turbo swap and my exhaust today. I had to track it down at the brewing supply company next door cause FedEx doesn't know how to deliver to the right place. The turbo swap and exhaust will be done this Saturday. I'm excited to finally get the 6766 on the car!

Ah yes the weather is finally starting to get nicer! I'll be doing some cruising this weekend. You're welcome to join if you want. It won't be much fun until the 22nd assuming all goes well

Aaaannndddd keeping with the grand scheme of things not one thing can go right with this car. So now my starter went out. I was able to track down a used one to get me by for now. I just can't catch a break with this thing. I'm soooo effing sick of it and am losing my motivation for working on it fast.

Well, pretty soon the whole electrical system will be new so you shouldn't have to fuck with it!

Re: my new project

Just ask swifty what he touched and replaced it.

Buy mine and do auto swap and use the other one as a DD/beater car.

Sell yours to a kid that thinks DSMs are the shit, then buy mine and show him.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be able to sell this car. In the 10 months I've owned it I justhave to much time and money into it. Plus if I did sell it I would buy another hayabusa and turbo it

Oh I will build a turbo busa! I want another one soooo bad! It will just be a few years unless I get passed and sell the talon lol.

Yeah at least it's not expensive. I'm just really getting sick of shit constantly breaking and having to spending all my free time fixing it ha.

Alrighty well I jammed a new starter in the car last night. Was way easier than I remember. It took me about 20min total. I had my buddy drive the talon down to my work today to change the oil and tranny fluid. I have about 250 miles on the engine so I drained the break in oil out and put a regular conventional in for now. I switch from lightweight shock proof to the redline cocktail for my tranny fluid. So well see how she shifts with that in it.

I noticed that the right front axle was basically demolished. I'm surprised my buddy made it to my work so i also put a new axle in it. Tomorrow were swapping turbos and John is going to make my exhaust.

Also the car seems to be charging fine while driving.

Things are kinda starting to come together

Not quite yet lol. I still have 2 weeks till I go on the dyno and a lot can go wrong in two weeks. I will be happy once my car makes it on the dyno and puts down some decent numbers. I should really stop being so pessimistic about this thing but it's kinda hard right now lol

Alrighty I got the turbo swapped and John redid my exhaust and lower intercooler pipe to fit the 6766. So now the car is running on the new baby turbo. I just need to get an air filter and make an intake pipe or see if I can get a 5in to 4in reducing coupler and make my intakepipe from the gt42 work. I'm also going to need to get the turbine housing ceramic coated or buy one of those turbo blanket thingys because it cooks the carbon fiber hood pretty good.

Also between yesterday and today I've put about 200 miles on the car so the engine now has over 400 miles on it. She's just about ready for the dyno. And big thanks to John (pushit2.0) for letting me swap turbos and his place then redoing my exhaust and intercooler pipe!

Thanks! And if he wants too. If all goes well on the dyno I'll run anyone who wants to. Cars or bikes. I don't care if I lose lol

Thanks man! I feel like I need the the luck right now. I think I'ma llittle overly paranoid about the charging system after last year on the dyno. The charging system seems to be all over the place so I hope she holds up on the dyno

Have you thought about installing a voltage gauge?

Win or lose its all about fun. But we will need to get video of all the fun runs.

4seasons69 04-06-2013 09:26 PM

Re: my new project

Also its kinda interesting. I weighed the gt42 it was almost 38lbs. The shipping weight on the 6766 was 25lbs so take away 1 or 2lbs for packaging that means the 6766 is about 14 to 15lbs lighter than the gt42.

The turbo timer reads voltage that's how I've been keeping track of the voltage while driving.

It def is all about having fun! Some video would be awesome!

Re: my new project

Looking good. Shouldnt that center section of the turbo face up and down and not be at an angle like that for the oil to flow out properly?

4seasons69 04-07-2013 02:11 AM

Re: my new project

thanks! It would probably be a little better if it was straight up and down. The gt42 was at a slight angle to and never had any problems. With the current oil drain line if I put the center section straight up and down it will kink the return line. And I'm not at a point where I can or will make a new line. so I guess it's pick your poison. Plus everything is such a tight fit in there with the top mount manifold I don't want to mess with it too much cause it seems to work right now

4seasons69 04-07-2013 02:22 AM

Re: my new project

Also john had a good idea of maybe trying to find a 5in to 4in reducing coupler but I couldn't find anything like that with the limited searching I did online so tonight I order an air filter, some 4in aluminum pipe, a coupler and some clamps. Everything I need to make an intake for the car

What dyno day is later this month? As of right now my car is getting tuned on the 22nd and I'm shooting for making it to maps boost for boobies dyno day on may 4th.
