Re: Beater 2g
No crazy new updates, but a few things. Got a cover for my Kirkey, I definitely can't get any wider because its a perfect fit with the cover.
ALso a long time ago I started redoing the interior wiring of the car to take out the wires from the washer fluid pump, hatch wiper, door ajar sensors, and other random little things. Went through last night and tapped up the whole interior harness, I think it looks better than it did stock. Also decided that I'm going to cut off my spare tire wel, and replace it with just some flat steel. Once that is all done I'll paint the hatch and the rest of the interior so it looks so fresh and so clean clean. It looks like poo right now because I had a lot of motivation to get it all cleaned up before the Mitsu cook out last year and ran out of motivation, hence why half of it is sanded and the rest isn't  Also picked up a spare 6 bolt, so as I slowly save up my pennies I'll be buying parts for a 6 botl 2g head combo. That way maybe I can be fast one day. I'll try and get better pictures as I keep working on it. |
Re: Beater 2g
Where you gonna mount your nawz now? right on the flat steel?
|
Re: Beater 2g
OH fer shiz. Yea I'll make enough bracing to try and still save a tiny bit of weight but yet keep the bottle and battery securly mounted.
Also got a new cut off switch for x-mas, so I don't have to hope tech doesn't question the battery box. haha |
Re: Beater 2g
I can offically say things went even too far for me . Having more time than money to spend, I do stupid things...
Nice simple setup http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/ae618f00.jpg To something a little too far for me? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/5d7fdefc.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/17218451.jpg The piece weighed 10lbs, and that was after cutting out the mount for the jack and what not I already cut out. I was hoping for a little more, but oh well. Live and learn. Passenger should like the new nitrous location too. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/b525f616.jpg Also drove it the other day to run to the store, I do miss it and can't wait for it to be nice out. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/eca9271b.jpg |
Re: Beater 2g
You have left the street car building, nice race car.
lol. |
Re: Beater 2g
Looks like a street car to me. Time to get her back on the track and run some low 11s ;)
What I consider streetable someone else may not. It doesn't hurt that I grew up driving my Chevelle that had no power steering, 4 wheel manual drum brakes, and no sway bars. |
Re: Beater 2g
So what exactly are you planning on doing now that you have a ginormous hole in your floor?

I agree, streetable is all in the eye's of the beholder. I heard sway bars are for pany's anyways:beach: Quote:

He's rolling around in a leather interior. Of course it's still a street car!!!
|
Re: Beater 2g
He knows I'm just playing, well I'm rocking dirty cloth with one side bolster with nothing.
To me right now since my dsm is my only car I want it to have everything, but since I found out it weighs 2900 I have been feeling guilty about putting weight in it, since that has probably been the key about its freakness. Either way, I'm ready to see this "quick for a 2g" thing in action. |

Re: Beater 2g
You should just paint the bottle grey and put a little radioactive sticker on the bottle, and get custom plates that say Enola Gay.
|
Re: Beater 2g
All finished
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/2b67d7aa.jpg Pretty sick huh? Just have to rivet it in and finish painting some things and she should be good to go get the crap beat out of it on the first track day. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/a1905bdc.jpg |
Re: Beater 2g
^That looks good. I've always wanted to do this but I don't know if I have the balls to do it.
|
Re: Beater 2g
You know something you 2G guys are dicks, "oh no my trunk floor is so usable with this sunken spare tire well, I can just put shit in and have a flat floor with a piece of cardboard like every other car on teh planet, its so useful"
Then fricken ginger goes and cuts it out. what an insult. Meanwhile us 1G guys have this dumb retard camel hump thing that makes using the trunk a pain in the ass. /rant So JMF fuel cell time? lol How much fuel you looking to carry? (that was a joke btw, can I ride in your car? I will hug the nos bottle) |

Floor is in and with bracing on the back its more than strong enough to support my bottle. So w00t for bottle staying in the trunk. Would you guys paint the aluminum and the battery box or leave it the way they sit? Half of me kinda likes the look but the other half wants to paint it black. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/40836aab.jpg Hopefully tonight I'll paint some of the other interior and put it back together so it doesn't look like a tin can. |
Re: Beater 2g
Your bottle is crooked ;) If it were my car, I'd paint it black.
|
Re: Beater 2g
Nothing is bolted down besides the floor, I had other things to do last night but because I'm a ricer I though the bottle in and took a picture. haha.
My only concern on painting it black is if it gets scratched up it'll probably look like crap and I'd have to repaint it. I'll still leaning towards painting it though. |
Re: Beater 2g
Black
|
Re: Beater 2g
negro
|
Re: Beater 2g
Put some rhyno liner on it, won't scratch and it will be black lol.
Awesome car btw. |
Re: Beater 2g
What about some really really thin/light carpet to throw down back there? That way it looks semi stock, but can take the abuse of throwing junk on it?
|
Re: Beater 2g

I say rhino line it or do carpet as scheides suggested. |
Re: Beater 2g

Think I should paint the back of the Kirkey black as well? My dad was saying that it wouldn't stand out as much to a police officer if it was black compared to bare aluminum. I think he has a point and the less attention I get from police officers the better. It's all a nice black now and hopefully will get time to put the interior in it this weekend and then just let it sit until warm weather and just driving the thing to and from work. |
Re: Beater 2g
LOL at your dad, helping you to evade the police. Yea, it would help you. Paint it. I just have dark tint, but that also can hurt.
|
Re: Beater 2g
Looking good! Yea, paint the back of the seat too, I agree with daddy.
