Get rid of the ETS intake, it sucks.

Re: Project Black ValentNine
Yeah, he swapped it already. There was a miscommunication and I thought he needed me to grab the intake from his house instead of that I already had it... Which resulted in me taking my old ETS off my VIII down there with me.
|
Re: Project Black ValentNine
And in all honesty, I'll parrot that it's the worst intake I've ever had on any car I've owned. Piece of garbage.

Re: Project Black ValentNine
Haha spazzy! Thats funny.
Still, thank you for bringing it. Even with the mixup it was nice to have extra options available so we can keep things rockin...couldn't have gotten this thing home without you! PS--Drove the 9 to the office today, ended up having to valet...long story. Anywyas, the guy couldn't even get it to move, finally I parked it right up front for him. He was very confused even though it is probably the lightest aftermarket clutch I've driven....probably moreso confused by the short shifter. |
Re: Project Black ValentNine
Did he need numbers on the shift knob?
|
Re: Project Black ValentNine
Probably never seen a stick before. It's a dying breed.

Re: Project Black ValentNine
Noticed that the shifter had a noticeable slop in it despite the freshy-fresh tranny, brass bushings, and short shifter. I took apart the console to investigate and discovered that the allen locking bolts had loosened a little on the center ball:

Then remembered that i like my short shifter to angle left instead of back (maybe because im short?) so i rotated it 90...I can reach it easier now and the slop is gone! Fresh grease in there never hurts either :) http://www.scheides.com/albums/evo9/IMG_6807.sized.jpg I had the console apart to begin installing race car parts...unhooked the lower clutch sensor for clutchless engine starts, unhooked seatbelt sensor so i could not be dinged at while wearing this: http://www.scheides.com/albums/evo9/IMG_6809.sized.jpg 80 miles on the clock and I'm real happy so far! |
Re: Project Black ValentNine
Nice!!
That was on my list of things this spring. It was just too cold this winter to fix the shifter! That black harness looks nice in there! How do you like the knob? I have the stock if you prefer that. |
Re: Project Black ValentNine
Ya I haven't touched one of these short shifters in probably 2 or maybe 3 years (wow) and for a second I stopped and was like, 'I usually do this with two people and the other person for like 30 of the 35 or so of these I've done has been Hughes...can I really do this by myself?' Lol but I forged on anyways with great success! Easier than I remember.
Ya I might grab the stock knob from ya just to try it out...I like the ones you made but...they're cold on my bare hands :). Will swap them around in warmer weather and see! |
Re: Project Black ValentNine
LOL, yeah they are cold... that part sucked. I've been known to just stick a glove over it!
|
Re: Project Black ValentNine
The last shifter you did was mine in my old VIII. :D
