http://www.scheides.com/albums/evox-...o_41.sized.jpg

I don't think its really any taller, the head almost seems thinner but with no lifters or rockers I imagine it is at least slightly smaller. The longblock probably looks taller for two reasons...first because of the oil pump; it bolts to the bottom of the shortblock and into the oil pan, you can see it in this pic (the lower chain). Secondly there is a whole cover that wraps around the bottom covering the crank caps, crank and rods as they spin down, almost helping prevent windage from the oil in the pan...I don't think there is a piece like this on a 4G63.

So deceiving! That oil pump sprocket really does visually lengthen the engine.

Looks great though! Glad to see you're making progress even with a bum knee!

I had raven works flow test my 2150s. The guy said they were the biggest injectors he's seen And could only do two at a time. I think it was like $30 just for the flow test on the them. I didn't have them clean them since they were basically new injectors a day seemed to flow test fine.

Me too! This is one of the simplest engines I've seen for timing.

Making some good progress! looks great!

Clearly Scheides had the air compressor tuned locally and it is putting down some serious numbers, otherwise I don't see how all the progress could have been done. Scheides.. we demand dyno graphs!

No logs of my remote tune.

Re: beaterX project thread

Wasn't going to work on the car tonight but I got a few quick hours in...old shortblock is SOLD and I either had to mess around with hoist/stand to pack it up or just get the new longblock the heck out of the way...so I cleaned and bolted up the water pump/tstat housing, bolted up the flywheel and the HDG6 with a fresh disc and slid it onto the trans:

http://www.scheides.com/albums/evox-..._002.sized.jpg

Then old motor is back on the stand, pistons and rods are coming out before it ships out, need to find a beefy 7/16" 12-point socket asap and get this thing off to its new owner...he has plans to sleeve it and do a 2.2L :)

Also, heard from FIC today, they got my 1680's and cleaned them up and are shipping them back to me....they said they were as much as 8% out of balance, that is kinda scary! She'll purr like a kitten now though :)

Found a surge tank with media for you :) It's not cheap though lol.

Piecing together my surge tank and saw this.

Jesus titty fucking christ. I think they want enough for it. Mishimoto makes one very similar and for just about as much too. Retarded when you can buy a Saikou Michi for 1/4 the price IMO.

Re: beaterX project thread

Are you talking about a surge tank or catch can here? Murlo says surge tank and website says catch can.

Apparently you (or I specifically?) cannot! I've emailed him several times with no response, and email is apparently the only way to order.

I was just researching surge tanks, that was when I say the catch can, the link was for a catch can.

Only 3 weeks later, Mr. Saiku emailed me back and I have an S0-OCC on order! Yay!

Got the pistons/rods out of the old motor last night. Here's a look at the piston from cyl1:

http://www.scheides.com/albums/evox-..._003.sized.jpg

http://www.scheides.com/albums/evox-..._002.sized.jpg

Rings seem smooth but the crown (?) of the piston obviously has some damage around it. The marks on the piston line up with the marks on the cylinder wall, so that piece fo spark plug obviously got stuck alongside the edge of the piston/wall, did some damage and then either disintegrated or flew out the exhaust.

Little scuffing around the skirt, all cylinders have this but this one is about 10x worse than the others (due to the scraped cyl walls I'm sure):

Rod bearing on #1, a few others have small wear marks like this and the black around the one edge but for 25k miles of 550-600whp I'm thinking they are not too shabby!

These rods are just manly (not Manley, but MAP Ultimate Duty!):

Next to a 2G DSM rod for beef comparison. These rods are built for doing some epic power!
