Re: beaterX project thread
I can get you some washers to put on the wheel studs between the wheels and brakes. That'll space 'em out!

Re: beaterX project thread
The title needs changing...i wouldn't classify this as a beater anymore..maybe needs a little TLC, but no longer a beater. Well done Scheides...looks great man!
|
Re: beaterX project thread
I need to change the title of this thread like you need a higher post count. It is and always be a beater to me. Don't hate :P

Re: beaterX project thread

Re: beaterX project thread
The trunk lid looks really nice now! Can't wait to see how the rest of the car looks when they get done with it.

Re: beaterX project thread
Looks nice!! It will be sweet when shes all patched up.
Yea dont bother with spacers because youd need 20mm and up spacers to even make the wheels flush. Which would look awesome, but thats just too much. |

Everything I've done so far has been about simple, basic mods and maintenance: getting the car to a good baseline of a clean, reliable, evo. Turbo, wheel spacers or wider wheels, alky injection, underglow kit, and the air-ride kit will come in time. I've only owned the car for like two months! http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/y...aye/haters.jpg I still can't believe I'm defending myself for not doing stupid shit to this car. |

Re: beaterX project thread
I haven't been hating Scheides, i think your progress has been great. I just like joking around with you about a turbo/alky setup. Modding too fast is bad anyway, slow and steady wins the race.

Re: beaterX project thread
No ones hating, scheides. Take a chiw piww.
|
Re: beaterX project thread
Hating? I'd call it ribbing. :)

Re: beaterX project thread
So, update, ordered a few things today. I want the car to be ready for the MAP event so I'm going full force ahead:
-27mm wheel spacers -StreetGlow undercar neon (purple) -windshield banner (TypeR logo) -window shades (sorry trev) -airride kit. Airride kit, neon, and windshield banner should be on early next week, PRAYING the wheel spacers come in time. |
Re: beaterX project thread
Damn your street stance will be so aggressive you won't even need to race to get a trophy!

Re: beaterX project thread
Don't forget to roll/pull your fenders and get huge wide wheels with stretched tires.
|
Re: beaterX project thread
He's getting spacers, he wont need stretched tires ;) But he should roll/pull the fenders when he gets that air ride on.
I'd add at least one spoiler on as well, you aren't going to win anything without a wing. |

http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=30 If that doesnt work I here Chad for CBRD can custom fab you set of 23.3 mm spacers that will make you wheel hella flush, but they may not go into production in time for the event. :) |

So the clutch went huh?
What clutch you planning on going with? Doing the MC/Diff pins at the same time? |

I got home late Sunday night to a whiny wife (she missed me, what can I say!) My shitty little compressor took a crap a few weeks ago, so I ran out Monday and picked up this thing from harbor freight (thanks for the tip mark!), and cleaned up my tool area (took a LOT of them with me up to BIR): http://i.imgur.com/zt2o9l.jpg Nothing fancy, but then again I don't do any pro work, just work on my shit and some friends' cars. Anyways, yesterday I was talking to Jim (TalonEvo/Fiero) and after spending the weekend racing together he was ready to help me rip into my car and just get this thing fixed in my garage. I've done a clutch job on a 1G DSM before, but my 2G and evo8 I paid someone else to do, just a real PITA. We started around 7:30pm, Anna brought us some PeiWei around 8 or 830. We rigged up a sweet tranny jack: http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX-...2879.sized.jpg Trevor stopped by after work around 11 or 1130? and we got the xfer case off and most of the trans bolts out. We later found a few secret trans bolts, and got the whole thing free of the block. We then spent about an hour or two wrestling with the thing and massaging it out of the car. Around 2am, trans was on the floor, I yanked the clutch/flywheel, and we crashed. Trevor nearly fell asleep on my garage floor while holding the jack, LOL. http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX-...2890.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX-...2894.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX-...2892.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX-...2896.sized.jpg A few notes: -we did pull the downpipe -we did putz with the TOB a bit, but got it off by doing one side, then turning the motor over 180° and then popping off the other side. -we did not disconnect the driveshaft -we did not fully remove the transfer case, it sits nicely on the frame -we dropped the subframe about 1" and hung it on its mounting bolts for the final 1" of clearance to get the trans free. 8am I'm at a client for work, and feel pretty damn beat. Flywheel is getting machined today. Damn it murlo, forgot about the diff pins and the stupid plastic master cylinder on these things.....something to noodle while I wait for my clutch to come in I guess. ACT 6-puck spring (HDG6) is the plan. |
Re: beaterX project thread
Damn man, it looks like you guys got alot done yesterday. Looks like you don't need my help after all :D
