No. If you want to really push the limits with this turbo, you'll need to build the bottom end.

I am seriously torn, this or the BBK....I'm still leaning this way, I think. It edges out the BBK up top. Both need more E85 numbers....

Hands-down BBK.

That looks like an awesome bolton turbo.

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

I'm pretty sure I'm NOT getting one of these now, just because a 2 month wait time is typical. But man, they sure do make pretty sweet power:

E-85 Fuel
Buschur 2.0L Motor
Buschur Stage 3 Head
Cosworth M3 Cams
Driven Innovations Intake Manifold
Buschur Ported Exhaust Manifold
Buschur Race FMIC
Sparktech COP Ignition
FP Red Turbo
EPM 02 Dump
Shep Trans and Tcase

I want a red so bad, seems like they keep making more and more power. If I didnt already have the 40R, I would have one of these now.

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

Look at this car, very 'typical' car, not your standard balls-to-the-walls build.

2006 EVO9

BR 3" turbo back
custom i/c pipes
manual boost controller (not sure of brand, never seen one before)
Stock 2 liter
Stock head
GSC cams
FP red
SS 02 housing
Ported exhaust manifold
K&N filter kit
Walbro fuel pump
SMC alky kit
FIC 850 injectors
AEM EMS, 3.5 bar map sensor, air temp sensor
No wide band
ETS 3" FMIC

The car came out good, he was also running Valero "93" octane gasoline which is the worst fuel you can buy in the country.

The car was tuned at 29 psi of boost. It was in the mid 20's here today and I use no correction on the dyno.

438 whp and 372 ft lbs of torque

If he used weather correction, then the numbers would be lower.

Bump, there's at least 2 locals with this turbo now making ~425-430whp on shane's dyno w/ E85, they need to post up ;)

Good numbers!

Does the boost taper off like that with most of the aftermarket stock frame turbos?

scheides 06-06-2009 06:28 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

On high boost, yes. Some are better than others at pump gas levels. The green/red still taper a bit, but the BBK can be set to hold pretty flat (with ecu controlled boost). Either way, most don't taper nearly as bad as the stock turbo does. IX's are the worst.

Kracka 06-06-2009 06:36 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

IX turbos aren't that bad with a proper setup. I set my MBC to peak at 25 and it tapers down to 21 at ~7500 RPM.

TalonFiero 06-06-2009 09:30 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

The IX head/Mivec breathes better than the VIIIs. A IX turbo doesn't taper nearly as bad on an VIII compared to a IX.

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

dont mean to get too OT with this question, but what would be the DSM equivalent of this turbo.

Unless I can cut some major spool of this HX35 i am looking at 3052s or GT3076s to be HTA'd down the road.

How much boost is that on the dyno graphs?

Maybe an FP RED. It's got the same name. :) An FP3052 is probably the closest though as far as power.

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

The FP RED uses the same comp wheel as the HTA3076 (except reverse scroll). That's the closest thing out there.

I think I already said this earlier in this thread:
