One solid piece, no welds.

That transition coupler is really nice, I like it! No mounting brackets on the UICP though?

Hah don't expect anything crazy, I don't plan on pushing it...I'll be running my usual 30psi as my fuel system is at its limit anyways.

Dunno, it was just in the box.

Yup it's a nice piece! I'm actually not even using it on my car yet b/c my car came with a modified turbo outlet pipe that transitions to 2.5" on its own. It's not very smooth but it doesn't appear to be holding me back yet :D I'll probably sell it with my (soon to be) fixed old UICP.

No brackets, that would just add cost I guess and I don't really think they are necessary. I kinda like not having them actually, lets the pipe move more when the engine rocks. It would definitely 100% eliminate blown I/C pipes but other than last night (forgot to fully tighten t-bolt on intercooler) it has never ever been a problem for me on this car.

That being said, this car drives *amazingly well* with a blown I/C pipe. On a DSM/CT9A maf-based evo you would be hard pressed to make it anywhere...I actually drove several miles back to my house and just fixed the car in the garage, no issue...just light throttle.

Oh, and in other news, my LTFT's decided to start working again! Checked this morning, right at 1.5% :D

Is the car SD?

The ECU uses both an SD and MAF calculation and depending on conditions, makes fueling adjustments based on both.

LOL! I'd love to see how they're routed on your car actually, mine is just redonk....8.5' belt!

New pipe looks nice. I always use hump couplers at the very ends now a days as well to allow for some flex.

Re: beaterX project thread

Well, the car is missing about 25-30whp IMHO but that's how my luck rolls with cars :) I'm fairly certain I have gunk on my intake valves again, need to run some pump gas/injector cleaner through this thing and see if it improves...should have done it before yesterday but meh, life's busy.

MitsuStyle.com spring dyno day yesterday! We were a little down on car count so we put my car on last and Shane @ DB Performance tweaked it a bit since it's been a year since it's been really dyno tuned. First pull was 467whp, final pull was 499.7:

This is a 1.0CF Dyno Dynamics dyno.

Walbro 400 + BAP + boomba rail + FIC 1680's are doing their job pretty well!
http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/..._afr.sized.jpg

Still some taper, but we had some odd fueling issues so just left boost like so:

and dynojet/shootout numbers:

Got it on the road and afrs went a little leaner....so I realized last night that I need to really finish/re-engineer my air filter heat shield situation. I have a small shield that I made temporarily out of my stock exhaust manifold shield :) but the stock snorkel bypasses this and blows right on the filter....I have the primo intake and the maf sensor is placed right by the air filter, at the end of the pipe...I haven't looked at other manufacturers, but IMHO they should be moving the sensor back a good 6-10" from the filter inlet to avoid what I'm seeing.

I love having fresh air blow right to the intake but I guess it's causing problems. On the dyno afrs are rock-steady in the 11's, but I hit 13's on the street. Last night I had a eureka moment with all of this and I temporarily blocked the snorkel with my temporary shield and AFRs instantly dropped to where they were on the dyno.

So I ordered one of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/370609679924

We'll see how well it fits and how functional it is...if it's all good then I will get it and my new UICP powdercoated wrinkle black.

Looking very solid there, great numbers bud! Congrats.

Good idea on the air filter heat shield. Let me know if it works out. I need to do something similar, as I had the same kind of AFR situation from dyno to street a while back on the silver car.

Great numbers for a killer street setup, and still kick some ass at the track. Must be a blast to drive.

Thanks guys!

Got the shield in tonight, $30 shipped from summit via ebay, hell yea! I tried a few different clamping techniques but ended up clamping it under the clamp for the air filter itself....the lip to clamp it down onto is really NOT very wide so I HOPE it doesn't rattle off...we'll see tomorrow I guess!

Fits nicely but not perfectly around the 3.5" inlet filter:
http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/...eld1.sized.jpg

Blocks air from a/c fan as well as snorkel:
http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/...eld2.sized.jpg

But still lets the snorkel dump fresh air into the engine bay, I like that!
http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoX/...ld3.sized.jpeg

Fingers crossed, seems to fit nicely!

Re: beaterX project thread

Not a bad garage-rigged solution! You could probably cut it down a bit to allow some of the fresh snorkel air to the filter, but while still blocking the A/C fan air.

Not a bad solution, I need to cover my filters as well, link?
