Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
This a guy with a simular setup on EvoM that made 746whp on AMS's dyno.
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-dyn...5-566-e98.html I could be happy with this level of power, but I have a good feeling my car will make more. http://www.dsmstyle.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I could potentially have a spot in my room as my friend might be getting his own room to accommodate others.
Rooms are reasonable though, just book one! :) My evo wants a go at your evo! |

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
This is one of the many reasons to have an EMS:
I hate the fact that I run a twin pump setup that has no fail safes. There are way too many things that can fail and result in a melted down engine, period. I’m running a full blown pump setup and for feedback I currently have an LED that illuminates when the second pump has power, it doesn’t mean that its working just that the harness has power to the second pump. At least this tells me that the Hobbs switch and relay are working. I just implemented a setup to provide a indicator/warning from the EMS that is driven off of the AFR values during load levels and throttle position settings. I’m using a extra low side switch output from the ems to drive a loud buzzer to let me know if the conditions are not appropriate for WOT. I’m keeping a mind map going of all of the modifications I have to the ECU from feature tuning to wiring changes. http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...elFailsafe.jpg |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
With the new AEM Infinity systems, we should be able to build all kinds custom logic routines like that just in the software.
|
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
What about if you used a shift that you could wire the ground to the aem and if your wide and reads 12:4 or higher it grounds the shift light so it turns on and you know one of the pumps are not working?

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
That's awesome you can do that with an aftermarket EMS, I had no idea you could implement your own routines like that. Very cool.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Do each of the pumps have their own check valve? If so, just put a pressure switch in the line pre-check valve maybe? Have the switch hooked up to a light or something. Its rudimentary, but would work.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I drove my car about 60 miles today. It’s awesome to drive, has a good amount of power down low for normal driving. If feels like driving a 500WHP car, but its a wolf in sheeps clothing. The 4.11 gears are awesome too. The car likes to make boost and creep up. At wastegate pressure it was making 20psi around 4200 rpm by the time it hit 7500 it was at 33psi! I cranked the manual boost controller a couple of turns at a setting of 2 out of 10 so I thought it would be at 25 psi? While I was in the pull I was only concentrating on the AFR gauge and it was around 11.2-11.7ish. However, I didn’t realize that it was running 39.9psi!!http://www.dsmstyle.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif The logs showed low knock voltage and the car seemed happy!
I directly copied the ignition and fuel tables from my 1G, I have the same injectors and then slightly modified the boost comp table. lucky!!! This thing rips. 37psi by 5k! http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...ostplotevo.jpg |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
You are crazy!
|
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I know you said your goal was like 700-750 or something; did you have a specific boost level in mind, or is that of little consequence?
|

I wanted to end up at or around 40psi. I just wanted to get there in slow incremental steps, so the tune and the setup could be verified. So what I know now is that my ignition did not break up, the clutch did not slip, I have a little more fuel capacity and the boost looks stable at that pressure. This thing is an absolute blast to drive! Next step is to get it on a dyno for fine tuning. |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
LMFAO let'er rip dude!
|
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
That is awesome 700+ awhp for a daily fun car is nuts! Good work Mark now get that 1G on some automagic. Lol
|
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Is that a 3rd gear pull? When are you seeing 25psi?

just checked the log 4400rpm to 25psi

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
that's awesome.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Is this car a 2.3 or 2.4? I can't remember.
Regardless, very nice spool for such a beast turbo. |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
wow, congrats on this beast man...its truly amazing and very clean

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I noticed that I had a small pool of fluid under my car. And confirmed it was transmission fluid. I checked around and determined that it was coming from an area where a steel ball is pressed in a passage to seal it up.
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...223_181519.jpg I contacted Jacks and the culprit was shipping damage. I didn’t want to pull the transmission out to fix it, so I had a good discussion with Jack and determined that I could TIG weld it while it was in the car. I removed the bearing and lathed up an aluminum piece to fill the gap. I welded it and no leak anymore! http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...225_011714.jpg I don't have a post weld pic but it turned out good. What a pain in the ass, at least I didn’t need to remove the transmission! |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Saved yourself a load of work there!
|
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
This thread reinforces why I want a lathe/mill/welder/etc whenever I land somewhere permenantly and have my own place.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Badass! I wish my diff-pin fix was that easy :(

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I'm ready for the dyno next week. I punched out my walbros and installed an8 hose and an aeromotive stainless 40 micron filter too. I have a home brew mix of E85 in the tank, 5 gallons of E98 added to about 4 gallons of E70. Good thing I still rock the ethanol content gauge, made it super easy to mix! I shouldn't have any fuel issues now. Hopefully the dyno goes smooth, finding this stuff out prior to strapping it in is a huge benefit.
These pics are lame but oh well! http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...304_080316.jpg http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...304_075857.jpg |

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Yea, it is pretty damn common. Pretty dumb imho.
Love the fuel setup but be wary, Lomker had issues with his FB hanger on his X. It worked great on the dyno but not on the street when fuel was sloshing around. Good luck man! |

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I've had the hanger for years now and have not experienced any issues, but my setup was never consuming this much fuel. Thanks for the heads up, I will be paying extra attention.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
I have to say a special thanks to Jordan for tuning my beast and the entire team at MAP. Thanks for all of the support for my cars. This Evo is fun and beyond my expectation! WTF crazy power, 600 lb/ft of torque, I'm just in awe with this 6266!
This was done in 4th gear on E85 with 36 psi. And the project is done now! As a note this turbo is out of steam up top, we could have pushed more boost but it makes no sense, as I'm still running an exedy twin HD it would have made more torque down low cause it to fail. I think this will do for a safe street tune. Check it out! Not sure about correction but I know it’s a 1.0 factor. http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/p...MarkLDyno2.jpg |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
careful with 4th.
A guy on teh link forums hit 700whp and 600+tq at 45psi, then 4th ate its face. Congrats |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
Torque curve so flat!
damn that is awesome Mark, that new 6266 seems pretty damn baller! Spool is very good too, I know its in 4th but still pretty damn good. Congrats and hopefully I get to see this thing soon. Quote:

Link forums, dsm's will eat 3rd and 4th, trust me I keep track of my DSM and how many time it goes through 4th. My dsm will never see 4th from a roll on due to this. This was just for the dyno. |
Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects
WOW!! Thats almost the same power your 1g made at the fall dyno day with the old 4202 2 years ago!
*cough* scheides overlay! *cough* |
