This is just me being a little over critical about the manifold but don't you want the injectors pointing more at the intake valve instead of the angle that they are at?

the main reasons you want the injector to point right at the valve is for emissions and a low idle rpm and idle quality. The 160lb/hr injectors are the secondarys, which will only be used when needed, so idle and low rpm/vacuum the engine should run off a fairly small primary injector in the stock location. The farther up stream you place your injector, either a primary or secondary the more power the engine will make. I found testing where a 1000 horse power engine gained around 50 hp from moving the injectors 14" up stream from the valve, I think they said they started at 7". But the engine had to idle at 1700rpm. The reason I found for the more power is the fuel takes heat out of the incoming air, thus its more dense and the engine makes more power. Also they did not find injector angle to be much of a factor but anything from perpendicular to 45deg to the incoming air was good, anything more then 45 either did not change or hurt power. As far as the injectors angling in there is not enough room on the runner to have them next to each other, and I did not want a fuel starving issue, so the angle makes the space from 1 injector to the next about the same.

I put the rolling chassis up on the scales last night. 1720lbs, If I am around 2500lbs race weight with driver I will be happy.

I will run the 4 bolt at first, and have a few axels on hand to swap in as needed. Then I will look at drive shaft shop stage 5 rear axels vs a solid rear axel/4 link setup the main hold back with the stock rear end is if the axel does not break the ring and pinion are next. Then when the rear end does not break the transfer case and front axels become the problem. The goal is to make the car as light as possible, make as little torque as possible, and no wheel hop what so ever, if all this happens the drive train might hold up for more then 1 pass.

The hood will either have 4 pins for easy removal or be mounted to the removable front end. I will drill holes threw the slide connection and add pins, the 2 up by the windshield will be removed from the top just behind the hood. The square stuff is for support to the body pieces and mounting right? And where it mounts to the (round tubing) frame is where the strength is? Looks good man. |

Yes this is a frame to hold the fenders, hood, front bumper cover, grill, and lights onto the chassis. The chrome moly round tube is the main frame that the suspension, engine, tranny, water to air heat exchanger, and radiator will be mounted. I wanted the square stock to use the flat surfaces to make it easier to mount things and the joints are easier to lay out, just cut and weld no notching needed. I decided to re-do the lower mounts for strength, I did not think the small thin gauge tube would hold up at 160+mph. I bought about 20lbs of aluminum to make all this, and it looks like I will use about 15lbs or so.

I will modify the fire wall mounts so that with a second set of hands the front clip can be removed with or with out the hood on and the front wheels on and the car with it on the ground by only removing 4 pins. I thought I would just see how much pressure it could handle before it started to bend or something. Now I just need to make the front bumper cover mounts, front grill mounts, head lights/turn signal mounts, then finish weld and start to paint stuff. ~John |

The reason I was showing that is there are no rules or regulations for the front of the car. All of the NHRA and IHRA rules are made to save the driver, so figuring out how to make a tubular front end and a removable front clip is a little of a stab in the dark for me. I am lacking the needed engineering degree to know what will work so I am over building the front end. I have looked at few door slammer cars and a full tube chassis car build to come up with my cars front end design.

I still plan torun the engine on the engine dyno, but I will not loose sleep over it if I have to chassis dyno the thing.
As for the holes I plan on putting in some driving lights mounted with sheet metal. Depending on what I get there may be 2 per side. I also plan on putting in the corner lights again and I want to have working turn signals. Then I will run all the wires for the front end threw 1 connector that will be easy to disconnect for front end removal. ~John |

With the front clip done until I get a hood I moved the car forward and started to cut up the rear end of the car. So far I have found about 80lbs to remove. The rear doors are gutted minus the crash bar and the door handles to open it. The glass is held up by a bracket that is bolted to the crash bar. The trunk area is cut up and I bought some thin aluminum sheet to rivet in to cover the new holes. I will remount the fuel cell and make the trunk lid as light as possible and will be held on with 4 pins vs the latch and hinge setup. Then after the rear bumper is re mounted I will weigh the rolling chassis in its more complete state to see how heavy it is.
