Small update... I put my summer rims on, and its going to snow tomorrow. Luckily I can work from home. :)

I also got a new windshield a couple of weeks ago, and last December I installed a new dent modification in my passenger side door thanks to some old broad in a Lexus.

Ricer Pete's Galant had a major unwanted modification added to it today...

Driving down a highway, I see a car swerve, and I see a truck run over something. The truck spit out the object from underneath its tire and sent it straight into my car.

A spare tire on a rim came sliding towards my car. No chance to swerve, not a moment to think.

It took out my lower oil pan and my car dumped all of its oil out. I did manage to pull over and stop the engine in, which felt like, under 25 seconds.

At this point, damage is unknown. Oil pan is toast, oil pickup is bent, and I haven't checked to see if the crank turns or if the block is cracked.

That sucks, good luck with getting it back up and running.

I recall running over a extension latter that was laying across 694 at like 2am. this was in my little red CRX with a welded shock on the passenger side, that sucked a lot.

Wow, that's shitty. Last time I had anything tossed in front of a car was a chunk of asphalt in front of my Talon, I had time to react but not enough, I saved the mechanicals but fucked up a wheel hardcore. You hear the "bang" and have no idea what got hit, and all you know is that you're still moving and you need to not be, like NOW.

Hopefully the damage is limited to the pickup and the pan.

As for insurance, it's a no fault claim, but your deductible still applies and barring the motor being fucked I doubt the bill will reach whatever deductible he's got.

Ouch that really sucks. Glad no one was hurt. I would look into seeing if you could get the state to pick up the bill. If you hit a pot hole and damage your wheel you can get them to buy you a new one. I have seen it happen plenty of times. But a spare tire in the road is a little differnt. Hopefully you just need a oil pan and a pick up tube.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Yes, its just a car, but we all know how it feels when something we've worked on over the years and then something like this happens.

Of course, thats why we have insurance... but about 4 months ago I changed my coverage. My old is only worth a few grand, so I changed my deductible. Basically I'm stuck with the bill however much it is.

Sorry to hear, and i went through almost the same thing driving home in my evo that i just got two weeks ago. i was on 694 in arden hills area last night and the car infront of me hit a cone that caused $1700 worth of damage :(

no they didnt stop (FML), and my insurance is saying that its concerd as Collision not its Comprehensive. im trying to fight it and make them change it.

He had no place to go to avoid, he wasn't close either, I was behind him and there was one car next to him in the right lane and a cement barrier to his left. Also the cone was flying in the air after the first car hit it

Although I'm sorry for the damage to your Evo, I don't wish it on anyone's car, but start your own build/wreck thread.

In case anyone was asking how close I was following the car in front of me... Anyone who has ever been in a car with me knows that I keep far back from anyone in front. The spare tire hit two other cars and was spit out by a truck that ran it over. There were cars on the side of me and behind me. There was no way to avoid it, other than swerving into the ditch and possibly rolling my car.
