Thanks :)
It feels so good knowing it's close to firing! Just have to get the hoses on, and get the battery hooked up!

... kekeke.. so it started tonight.. No vids yet.. But just checked to make sure everything is fine.
Now I just need to get the radiator in, get some plugs for the guy below the thermostat, pick up a gasket for the DP, and get some tranny fluid and the engine bay part will be done..

.. then on to the brakes and 4 bolt :)

Ceramic coated it :)
And in that pic the alternator wasn't it, took it right before bolting that in and firing. I'd love to relocate it though.. most likely end up in the winter project ideas.

And thanks guys for all the support :)

Yea for real, I would love to have that much cash to blow on DSM's lmao. That motor gives me a half chub, not gonna lie. SO clean.

The great part is I didn't really spend that much on it. I think the majority of it was spent on stupid stuff like gaskets and bolts.. lol.. It's amazing how much that ads up

sleepydsm 07-09-2008 01:18 AM

Re: My projects

I know what you mean, I just did a stock rebuild with all OEM gaskets and such.

I feel your pain. These damn cars nickel and dime ya to death!

Re: My projects

Ugg.. no kidding, it's never ending.. lol

So I ended up ditching out on the 3000gtVr4 brakes/ Evo rotors. The adapter I had made was for the 1g caliper not the 2g. So I'll be using the other adapter :)
Already picked up the Camaro calipers and Cobra rotors (which are bigger)

... Just have to take the wheel bearings in and get those pressed.. Then get the brakes on and it'll almost be ready to drive

WOOOOOT!!! so when do the vids come?

Re: My projects

I have one vid, but it sounds pretty gnarly from the open exhaust, makes it sound like some mad lifter tick :(

Plus when we fired it up, found a pin hole crack in the L pipe, so had to push it back to get that welded up. I'm almost done with the mount for the TT and EBC under the radio :)

kittay 07-22-2008 05:18 PM

Re: My projects

Since the engine bay is all finished up, starting back on the interior :)

Made a mount for the TT/ EBC. Here's how it looks now in the primer:

Re: My projects

Lol.. Just keep finding things to fix/ improve.. and then more stuff.. lol

We took out the trailing arms today and ground them down a bit more for the 255 wides, and welded them to fix the tow problem. Got the 4 bolt in and the rear end all buttoned up.

I did some misc improvements as well. I'm sure no one cares or at least as much as me, but I'm happy :)

I got the stupid bumper sticker off.. That thing was gnarly bad, I spent 2 hours with it.
Before:
http://a858.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...c340b662d9.jpg

After:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...t/IMG_6874.jpg

Also got a new wing on the drivers side, since the other one, the fiberglass was pretty cracked.
Then I took off the windshield washer guy. It looks alot better :)
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...t/IMG_6878.jpg

Pulled the Buschur exhaust and found this:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...t/IMG_6872.jpg
So going to have to fix that..

kittay 08-05-2008 02:09 PM

Re: My projects

I'm getting so stoked!! Car is about to run!

Last night threw in the Supra pump and finished up the exhaust with a 3" electric cutout as well :)

But all I have left is to finish up the gauges then it's on to tuning!!!

Thought you guys should know :)

Re: My projects

Looks great. Really nice build on the cherry, and all the others look nice too.

Have you considered chopping the "FRONT" (front of engine aka timing belt side) motor mount to look more like a 2G one? It cleans up the engine bay a bit. I also machined a small square to fit into the hollow mount and welded it for strength and just to give it a finised look.

And come on, where is the pretty aftermarket pointless colored timing belt? Greddy, HKS, Power Ent.? haha.. its a 2.0L right?

kittay 08-06-2008 01:30 AM

Re: My projects

I would, but kinda need/ want the power steering for the 255 wides.

Lol.. I really don't care for the colored timing belts.. lol.
It's a 2.0 for now. Next year it'll be a 2.3 :)

craig 08-07-2008 10:27 AM

Re: My projects

the colored belts are actually stronger kevlar re-enforced, but in no way worth the money they get for them

Re: My projects

I bought a pretty blue timing belt. Really wish I hadn't, but what's done is done and I have a timing belt now..that's blue.

I did it, and kept power steering. I just put that cast iron bracket (the power steering pump bracket is attached to it) in the band saw and trimmed the unneeded part that has two studs in it.

I'm a pussy little girl :)
So you just made it like a 2g style?

I have some lower springs, just unsure about cornering with the wide tires

Oh... But I drove it today :)
It is very loud! It feels like I have a hardcore system in the way it rumbles and makes the mirrors shake.. lol

FPred spools good and feels pretty good on only 15psi :)

Do you get your stuff used or new?

Re: My projects

Most everything on the black cherry was used. Got good deals and stuff with low miles.
