Outside of this event I planned to never go there again anyway. I ran .4 faster at Cedar Falls than I did at Rock Falls on the same setup (13.2 vs 12.8) and the same trap speed (108). So yeah fuck that place.

Sounds like we need to start some threads on local boards to ban the next Sport Compact Day. See how Al likes that. :sasmokin:

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

AJ is right though, there are still a ton of people that will still drive down there and pay their $35 to get two runs on a shitty un-prepped track and then go back home complaining about how crappy the track was. Then a month later they will go back there and do it again.

How fucking lame. I was all excited to go and then I decide to check out this topic. Good thing I did, I would've driven all the way out there....lol

Does anyone have the addresses for the other two tracks mentioned?

The club will be open to members, as well as corporate and auto club events. We are planning to begin construction in the summer of 2007 so long as the interest in the project remains strong. All zoning and environmental issues are cleared and the project is now down to two potential locations. We are contacting you today to ask for your help to get the word out about this exciting new auto enthusiast and motorsport complex. We need to have 150 more member commitments to finalize our financing for the project. If you could please contact your membership and forward this announcement to them it would help all of us make this complex a reality. If you would like to learn more about LaMonza Motorport Country Club and what we will have to offer please visit our website at www.lamonzaclub.com. I would also be happy to attend your monthly member meeting to explain this project in greater detail.

I don't get it. If his first post was updated, that means this event is still on?

wow...I have been going to the RF raceway since i was about 13. I always enjoyed my time there, but than again i was a kid and any car fasinated me. I always did hear my sisters ex-boyfriend say that the track prep is crappy though. I was looking foward to seeing all the fast cars this weekend, I would of been taking my sister from Georgia, she was really excited too. but the petition will be signed and this track is off my list.

I don't think anyone from this board should ever go to RF again after the way they treated us.

Just for another joke on top of this ordeal when I was trying to talk both Al and (I assume Jennifer) about running my Porschica with the parachute on it we got to talking about me running my race car there and things like that. Turns out her husband is afraid to run his car full out due to the safety issues it would be present. The funny thing is it only traps at mid 160s. The track isn't safe enough for one of the track officials to run thier car to 160 mph... says alot. Just thought this was funny to mention.

Yeah, this is why the IA tracks get a ton of MN Business. Personally, I'm all for planning a weekend down in IA. I'd love to hit up Tri-State again.

HiImBrian 07-04-2007 06:17 PM

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

I think we should all go for a cruise to RF and pee on the track. On the way there we can stop for some photoshoots and maybe even overtake a weight station. I really wanna know what my car weighs.

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

If people want a big weekend of racing in IA there is the weekend of Friday Aug 3rd and Sat Aug 4th.

Cedar Falls has a Friday Fun night that gates open at 5:30pm and racing going from 6:30 to 9pm.

Then Sat TriState Raceway has open test and tune with gates opening at 8am. Racing till 4pm.

Then head back to Cedar Falls Sat night for their midnight mania from 9pm to 1am.

Head down from the cities around 2pm Friday night, Drive back at a decent hour on Monday. Hell, Friday night people could hit up Cedar Falls as well, I have a few freinds down there, and the night life is fun as well.

Would be a full weekend of racing and plenty of time to schedule it up and take time off.

Yeah, whoops, that's the Road America Trip. Which I'd still go to if I had the cash flow for that.

Well, there is a few weekends in IA that resemble that same opportunity. I know I'd be game for a weekend in IA and I'd race at least once. It's gonna be like $20 bucks to race and slower cars (like mine) don't need a helmet. wOOt.

I definitely thought about it, it's just hard with all the AWD guys that would want to dyno you know? In any case this was definitely a bummer, and I want to apologize again. We may have some ideas up our sleeve in the near future though ;)

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

Has anyone ever tried organizing anything with CF or Tri-State? After the Midwest Mayhem failure a few years ago and now the bad luck with the Proving Grounds, maybe it's time to move to a new location?

v8klla 07-09-2007 09:59 PM

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

Do you think TC people would be willing to travel that far out for such an event? I know we would make the haul (we will be down there on the 22nd), but I would think attendance would be hindered significantly by distance alone...

Chris

Re: July 8th: 1st Annual Modern Automotive Performance Proving Grounds

I don't see why not. AJ and some others used to come down to Tri-State quite a bit 5-6 years ago. Iowa has a couple real strong GTP and Thunderchicken groups so they could be potential co-sponsors. Another potential co-sponsor is the DragSource group from Des Moines but I don't know if they ever got their shit back together after they had a falling out a year or two ago.

The Import vs Domestic Shootout organized by MIAC at CF wasn't a huge success.
