I realize that and that is what I was refering to.

Looks good though. Should be fun.

Tims got a point, that tire is going to get a lot taller. That looks way to tight to be safe. I would be very careful with that situation, nobody wants to see tires shred at speed with you in it.

Re: My Winter Project....

It has quite a bit of room. Here is a better picture to show it. The "door" area is hogged out like that on the front side of the tire, specifically for the growth.

I guess that picture is kinda hard to tell the depth as well...

We'll see how it does after the first burnout. That should give us enough of an example of the expansion rate.

Re: My Winter Project....

Yes I measured the tires and gave them an extra inch or so to clear on each side with my comfort zone of 2 inches extra (4 total). I may end up with a wider tire eventually but these will work for now. The height clearance is adjustable but even with full suspension squat with an inch of tire growth they will clear by tons of room at this ride height. I plan to make the car lower as well but want to wait for it to be at full weight before I swap out the springs I bought.

This week should actually be a fun week to make some nifty things. Id like to get the tin work complete, create a nice dashboard and make myself an intake manifold. If I can get all that done this week Ill be happy. I have all the body panels fitted on the car and aligned aside from the driverside door which still needs to be lightened so the body work is compelete along with all the mounting points and tube structures to hold them. The car is getting extremely close to being at a stand still to wait for a turbo and fuel system. Still trying to get that money to start growing on trees but isnt working yet.

Re: My Winter Project....

The height of the tire will grow roughly one inch per the manufacturer. I have over 6 inches of clearance at full sqaut :) It fits. The reason it may look like it doesnt is because the day that I took those pics and jake took some pics, the car was just thrown together for pic purposes so things like the rear bumper were literally rubbing on the tires. I now I have it mounted properly using tube structures to hold them where they will live permantly.

Re: My Winter Project....

Sometime mid next week I should have time to actually get all the body panels on correctly and tightened down with hopefully some of the tin work done so I can actually wash the pig and take some decent pics of her. Im sick of these dirty ass pics :) I have a car cover Ill start to toss on her while Im not screwing with it so it might actually stay clean also!

any updates?

Re: My Winter Project....

Yeah :(

I am selling it due to a personal situation. Terrible thing to give up but I have no choice. I will be building another car this winter and have it ready for opening day next season. If anyone is interested in the car feel free to call me anytime at 507-459-8629

Most the people on this board live close enough they would be able to come down and see it first hand which is a bonus. The car also does have a title from brand new so it would be possible to get a loan from a bank to help the purchase and completion of the car. I will also finish more or all of the car if the buyer wants. My labor would be next to free to do that also.

I am asking $18,000 as is. To finish tinning and the lexan would probably end up being around $1000 I would guess. The car does come with everything I have for it including the EMS, Rear end, rims / tires, etc..

Dangs that a lot of work to not be able to finish and drive it. Is there some current pics of it, or is the last pic as far as it got?

that sucks man!!! did you ever find sponsors??? I'll let you know if I know of anyone who can afford that but most DSMers are cheap. Did you sell off all the driveterain and stuff? So just rolling shell? Hopefully you will be able to pull through and keep it.

Re: My Winter Project....

It has all the drivetrain parts minus the engine and transmission. Things cant really work out to have it pull through. I will be building another toy this winter though I am sure.

Yes I did find a couple small sponsers which I obviously wont need anymore for this car. Most of them will be on board Im sure once I get around to the next one though :) The magazine guy is also still waiting, I talked with them and we decided it would be nicer to wait until the new owner gets ahold of it before I put it in the magazine. That way the new owner will get the coverage, Ill just get plugged as the chassis fabricator.

Not sure what happened to Jake though. Hes a good guy to me and everyone I know so Im sure there is something going on that everyone isnt aware of. I stay out of other peoples stuff. If anyone does plan on rolling down here just make sure you dont decide to get sticky fingers or anything :) Jake is in the same shop that I keep my Evo and everything else in.

Re: My Winter Project....

Oh and no, everything comes with the car;

AEM EMS
Full brakes, line loc, prop valve, lines, etc
Full Coil over suspension
Engine / Trans mounts
Strange alum rear end w/ pro gears, axles, bearings, etc, etc.
Rims, Tires, tubes for front and rear
Parachute, mount and release mech.
Steering assembly w/ rack
Seat, Harness, driveshaft loops

Pretty much everything is brand new as well.

Not sure what else Im forgetting but everything I bought or installed on the car goes with it. I will also trailer the car to the new owner anywhere in the states assuming they pay gas and food. My time is free.

Re: My Winter Project....

Well the Evo is on its way to its new owner. The buyer seems perfectly capable of finishing out the car and making it run some damned good numbers. Ill keep people posted sometimes on its progress as I hear about it.
