I've decided to give the big F-you to my VF37 and go bigger right away. If I can afford it, I'll go FP Black (They call it the 82HTA for Subaru's for some reason). I'm also considering a few PTE units. The shortblock is begging to be built, and I'm already planning on GSC S2's. So, I feel it would be a waste of engine not to. Tentatively, I'm thinking 98mm 8.5:1 JE's, and possibly Manley T/T rods. Decisions, decisions.. |
Re: Project Slowbaru
dont cheap out on rods, manley t/t's are good for just about anything you can throw at them and priced fairly well, and as for pistons i would do cp pistons, you mind as well go rotated turbo setup too =) there are better options for a fp black sized turbo if you go rotated, and it makes working on the car SOOOOOOO much easier!!
P.S. i'll just leave this right here =) http://mnsubaru.com/threads/fs-ft-rotated-kit.42388/ i bet he would trade you with some cash on top |

Oh we definitely gonna race! |
Re: Project Slowbaru
with going to a 6262, your gonna need a 6speed =) a 5speed wont hold that kinda power for long!

I'll probably just upgrade to an '08+ 5-Speed. Those seem to hold higher power better than the older ones. |
Re: Project Slowbaru
Soooo I can get in on this race too right? ;-)
Looking good! |

With the tires that are on my car right now you probably won't need any car lengths lol

Re: Project Slowbaru
You bastard!
If I had $3K sitting around I'd hop on it, dry hump it, and make it my bitch. |
Re: Project Slowbaru
I got a little work done on the Slowbaru today. I got all of the interior wiring out of the WRX, and only have to pull the front harness with the headlight wiring out.
Yesterday I picked up my slightly larger turbo. It's a Turbo Lab 20g. It has no shaft play and has the wastegate flapper welded shut, so I can use the EWG up-pipe I'm getting from Ryan. It only has to get me through this season! http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...ning/TL20g.jpg Today I went to pick some parts up from Phill @ Grimmspeed, and ended up buying a never used protoype Grimmspeed 3" catless downpipe. The only thing I will have to do is change the 2-bolt flange to a 3" v-band and take a few inch section out to get the length right. http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...Sdownpipe2.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...GSdownpipe.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...Sdownpipe3.jpg I ALSO, got my hands on a true JDM Legacy rear window, which includes a rear wiper. Since I have wiring from a wagon, the steering column and controls are all ready for me to add it on. Evidently these are extremely rare and people pay upwards of $350 for them. It'll look like this. http://jdmvip.com/jdmcarpictures/199...-Rims/rear.jpg I'll have my heads back from the machine shop by next weekend and at that point will be able to get the motor back in the car. Ryan is holding the rest of my FMIC piping and will only have to switch BOV flanges for my Tial. I ran in to a set of FiveO Motorsports 2000cc top feed injectors and will be sending them to Raven Works for cleaning and testing. I'm also almost done piecing together my top feed rails, -an fittings and braided hose, and will be picking up Grimmspeed 8mm phenolic intake manifold spacers as well. I'll probably get a DeatschWerks DW300 fuel pump to back everything up. The last big purchase I have to make is my Accessport unit, but I think I've gotten the worst of it bought already! I'm getting antsy! |
Re: Project Slowbaru
Sounds like it's getting close

Re: Project Slowbaru
Just an FYI I think there is a Walbro 255 in there. After the pump went out for the 2nd time Im pretty sure I swapped one in... Sad that I dont remember.
The car is looking really good! Cant wait to see it up and running again |
Re: Project Slowbaru
Also, last I talked to Shane he said a modded 255 flows more then a DW300.

Well shit, since I have two 255's now, I'll definitely skip the DW300. |
