Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
Pretty good day once the fog lifted. My car ran a best time of 11.555 @ 120 MPH with a 1.658 60ft.

^You hit your goal then, right?
My best pass on the bike was 9.75@153. Had a few more 9.7s but no impressive mph. Need more seat time and I bet it could go quicker. It was really cool to see so many quick dsm guys out there |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
I had a great day today, it's weird that I drive this thing mostly on the track these days.
My best pass was 11.42@120 with a 1.7 60 ft, I was a bit disappointed with the 60fts for the day, but oh well. I did realize that my 10.99 goal is pretty lofty and that really the only people that do it are people with tin can cars, I may have to rethink it, an 11.3 seems doable on street tires with an 11.1 maybe 11.0 on slicks. I finally got to meet Mark Leasure, and what a guy he is, nice to finally meet you. Also nice catching up with the Winona dudes, hopefully everyone got one step closer to getting their cars setup, I know that I did. |

That's a help of a time Carl! Nice! Congrats to all of you!

Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
Had a good time today, the fog was crazy on the drive there. Good to see all the fellow DSM’ers too. I ran my best MPH and hit my first nine second pass at RFR. Unfortunately I was hitting the rev limiter in 4th about 100 feet or so before the end of the track. The next pass I upped the rev limiter hoping to get my 160 trap speed. I ended up missing 3rd, and since it was a race I shifted into 4th and ended up breaking my transmission. I knew 4th was at the end of its life so no biggie. 42 mph on the back half!!

Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
It was a fun weekend. Not a whole lot of sleep, but that's pretty typical before a day at the track. Jake rebuild my transmission the night before, got the new M/T ET Drags mounted and we went to see what will happen. It was great to meet Mark and the rest of the Twin Cities crowd. Jake drove the car the first three passes and ran a 10.04@151. I tend to break it every time I get behind the wheel and I did it again. When it was my turn to drive, I messed up the launch, the car bounced and the back of the left front control arm slipped off the k-member on the 1-2 shift. The car was veering to the left pretty hard and I almost went into the other lane at half track. At the end of the track all hell must have broken loose. I saw I huge cloud of smoke and the car was very hard to steer. Got pretty lucky on that one. Hopefully I'll get more seat time next year and be able to do better. No nines this year. Earlier on Sep 8th, I ran a 10.23@152 and broke 4th. Next year, I am done with the manual transmissions. The car is going to be an auto and run solid 9s.
Here is a video of the passes Jake and I made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kYXjj6Niv0&hd=1 |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
What mph were you guys picking up in the back half?

Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
It was great seeing other members from style yesterday. It seemed you guys were hooking up pretty decent. I plan on making it out there alot more next year.

Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
How much would someone buy an 11 sec DSM for?
With a fuck ton of extra parts? |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
38 mph on the back half of the track.

Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
This was my first full pass with the car and first time down the track in 4yrs. Felt really good!
Slip... 60'. - 1.661 330' - 4.611 1/8 - 6.736 MPH - 114.33 1000' - 8.550 1/4. - 10.044 MPH - 151.53 Thank you Vassil for letting me get behind the wheel. The car is definitely a handful. I am just happy the transmission held together and nothing major happened to the car or to Vassil when the control arm fell apart! Overall a good day! |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
Good work Mark glad you finally got a 9 at rock. The 1/8 doesn't look like it had much hook but I know what my car might be able to run now thanks!
Vassil looks like you just had some bad luck! The auto probably isn't the answer but that is my opinion. So close to a 9 sec pass get the short track better and it will happen 2013 season should be fun! |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
As far as track prep goes when I was out a few weeks ago I cut a 1.59, 1.63, and a 1.8.
I also went 7.1@97 in the 1/8th last time, so I'd say there was a lot more left for track prep. Vassil, leave the car a manual it didn't do anything to you!! (today anyway, lol) If you guys were there a few weeks ago I know that you would of gotten a 9 out of it. |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
Vassil was talking to Jennifer after she booted us from the track and she said they lay VHT down the whole track... Vassil asked "Where? Is it some new invisible shit cause I sure aint seeing it"! haha
Oh well, better luck next time! |
Re: Rock falls 10/20 test day or 10/21 sport compact day
Yea track prep didn't seem the best. A few weeks ago for the fun day the starting line was actually sticky where I could feel it with my boots when stagging kinda like Cedar Falls always is. Yesterday sucked as it never felt sticky.
It'd be awesome to try and get all the quick dsm's out for a day again next year! |
