Re: Back at it
I run a bap on my setup and am very happy with 463 on DB on only 27psi with 1 wally and 1350s.

Re: Back at it
Scheides, it doesn't look like you're even close to maxing out your pump with the BAP.
I'm picking up Brad's BAP and will hopefully have it in tonight. Tune tomorrow and see what this thing can do. I doubt the pump + BAP will be the limiting factor. |
Re: Back at it
I've seen 35psi tapering to 30 a few times before I turned on psi-based boost and I think that's about the limit I'd want to push the BAP on this setup. It's been enough to get me by all summer with no issues so far :D
ps--update your email address, I keep getting bouncebacks when you get PMs :P |
Re: Back at it
O snap, I was wondering why I wasn't getting emails.

Re: Back at it
Small update:
I got the boost a pump in and it made my tune on the top end rich by two plus full points. It was so bad it was rich stuttering. I got it tuned out tonight. Hopefully I'm useful at the track on 2 1/2 hours of sleep. |
Re: Back at it
Good luck man! Wish I didn't have to work...

Re: Back at it
Now that I'm not a walking zombie... UPDATE TIME!
The day started off bad for me. After one hour of sleep, we made it to the track. The first run I launched at 5k stutterbox only and bogged really hard. I hear something break but kept going. I opened the hood immediately after the track turn off. My power steering upper bracket bolt SHEARED OFF! I left the belt on to see how it would do for the next run, since I still had power steering at the wheel. I ran a 14.09 at 114. Next run I antilag and launch at 5k again. Another horrible bog and still falling out of boost like crazy between shifts. This run was 13.94 @ 116. The car had died right at the finish line. I coasted to a stop after the turn off, ran and got my ticket and came back. By now two track workers were checking out my car. After thinking my motor was toast, I had one of them crank the motor for me and I noticed it had 0 fuel pressure. Got tow strapped to my tools and started tearing the car apart to the fuel pump. The KB Boost A Pump had blown it's 25 amp fuse. I thought these were supposed to be 30 or 40? I replaced it with a 40 amp courtesy of Brian. I also cut the power steering belt. Thank you Burd and Brian of MAP for helping me scrounge up a fuse! Third run I got a decent launch but 2nd didn't want to NLTS. So I let out of it and got it in, and of course the turbo fell straight on it's face. By this time me and the trans had a mutual understanding of each other. It was going to crunch 2nd and 3rd EVERY TIME, no exceptions. And I was going to smash it in until it did, EVERY TIME. The fourth run I ran a 13.09 @ 116. The car had progressively gotten worse with breaking up. This run I had to shift at 7k into 4th just to keep it clean. I had been shifting at 8k prior. At this point my testing was done, I knew a lot needed to change. I had been cutting 2.0+ 60's this whole time and falling way out of boost every shift. I decided it was time to go for broke. I cranked the antilag up and was now building 15psi on the line instead of 6, I also changed my rpm limit to 9k. I was hot lapping knowing the time trials would be over soon. I changed my tune on the fly and told Christa to get Swift to gap a new set of plugs for me and bring the tools. I wish someone had recorded a video of this because I was sitting in my car, in the lanes, with Christa, Swift and Josh changing my spark plugs and pushing the car forward as needed. They finally got the last plug in with only two cars ahead of me at the line. This next run was ridiculous. I absolutely NAILED the launch, NAILED 2nd and of course... 3rd didn't want to go in!!!!! I crunched her good for way longer than I should've trying to get it go let me in. I ended up saying F it and coasted to a finish 15.8 @66. The funny thing about this run is I was running a Civic coupe who did 16 something at 88 and I still beat him! That was my last run and I had a great time. Great to see a lot of friends at the track. Thanks Christa, Brian, Burd, Swift and Josh for the help during this outing. So my conclusion to this event is I need a trans. I had thought about joining the bandwagon for auto, but 5 speed is where I want to be. |
Re: Back at it
I just realized there was a run in between the 4th and 5th of my last post. I had run a 13.07 @ 120 against a black 10 sec STi. Best run of the day.

Re: Back at it
You sure are impressed with yourself considering you've had 5 plus years with your car and are still stuck in the 10s. :)
I'm also very impressed with you Nate. You are the king of the internet thugs. :jackoff: |
Re: Back at it
Thanks for digging that up for me though. I've been meaning to look at my 1/8 to 1/4 mph gain.
33.51!!! :) |
Re: Back at it
Glad you got out to the track. I think you need to take it down a notch though, if you can't take some ribbing from Nate then you shouldn't be posting here :) All he is saying is that it's one thing to build a car, it's a whole higher level to get to the track AND make that perfect pass.
So yea, set your ego aside, fix your shit, and get back out there. |

This is something a fuck-ton of people need to understand. Heard some parts are on order for this thing. |
Re: Back at it
Good first track visit. Driving isn't as easy as people think. Can't wait to see how it does next time out!

Re: Back at it
Meh I'm not looking for a miracle pass to send my 16g into the 10s. I'd be calling Curt Brown if that was what I wanted.
I do have a trans on the way along with a couple of other fixes. Oct 15th will be one exciting test n tune! |
