Isn't it fantastic how things just blindside you in life? Time to buy an Evo, I think. :)

regular homes are being charged almost $4000. the association made some deal with the city, and they are paying almost 1/2, so each owner of a unit (two combined) have to pick up the rest.

the project is on hold, but definitely not forgotten.

Wow, that's pretty damn retarded.

Aren't they doing the assessment over a period of time? Usually they add it to your taxes over a 10 year span or so, then it only ends up being a few hundo a year.

Re: Ricer Pete's Galant

Pretty sure the seller is legally required to inform you of any assessments taking place. My mom just went through this because she was selling her house, and was legally required to inform the pending buyers that the city was "thinking" about repaving the road, and if it goes through it'll cost X amount of dollars. You should contact your realitor.

And this is normal for home owners. Associations and cities don't just pay for this kind of stuff. The home owners who live on that road are the ones who pay, whether or not you want it done. You can go to the boards and state your opinion during the decision making process, but if it passes, you're pretty much stuck paying.

Damn that really sucks! I was excited as hell to see you make her fast. Oh well atleast it still will look good.

Right before my Dad moved out of his old house in Minnesota, he had to pay a rediculous amount to help resurface the roads in our neighborhood.

Since we were on a corner lot, he had to pay for both roads, was super rediculous. Ended up costing him about 10 grand.

i could do that, but in the long run it would cost me alot more. that, and i dont plan on staying there for more than a few years. unlike the previous owner (bitch), id have to inform the new buyer of the assessment thats rolled into the taxes. so if it two units were up for sale, mine and someone elses, thats a selling point for me. who knows what the market is going to do, but the more selling points i have the better.

i sent him an email last night, and i started looking through all of my closing documents to see if there are any notes anywhere stating something about, like you said, "thinking" or a pending assessment in the works.
