Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Thanks for the compliment.
However, now the bitch is over-heating. It seems to be the t-stat is sticking. She'll warm up quick, hover around 200 when the fan kicks in, but then slowly keeps rising. She was at about 230 on the logger when I got it home and let it cool down. Even when I got on the highway it didn't help. |
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
I took the t-stat out and she runs really nice and cool untill I get into town, stop for any amount of time and the temps shoot up. Not as bad as with the thermostat in there. I need to get a second fan though.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Holy triple post batman!
Figured out my over-heating issue. The stock fan wasn't turning on for some reason. I'd let it sit in my garage and idle all the way up to 210 and nothing. So I spliced into the fan wires and ran a switch inside. I wired it so I wouldn't need the key in the ignition so I can leave the fan on to keep the engine cool after shutting it off. She runs so cool now, 160-170 through town with the fan on. On the highway I didn't need the fan on yesterday, but it was raining so we'll have to wait for a really warm day. I am very happy with the way it turned out. She runs absolutely flawless. Next up I got to replace all the wheel bearings, ball joints, and I would like to get poly bushings for the suspension, sway bars, and find an equal length axle setup. |
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Glad to hear its running good... Get that T-stat back in though.
Let me know when you want to get the exhaust finished up. |

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Finally doing what the title of this thread says.
Going to the autocross test n tune this saturday. :D |
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Car ran absolutely awesome during the autocross. I decided to run both days and ended up getting 3rd in my class of 5 cars. Something like 21 cars showed up.
Over-all I had great fun. Got a few little tweaks I have to do before the next event on June 22nd at the Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI. |
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Awesome to hear! What class you running in?
|
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
I was bumped up to SM because of my FMIC, Exhaust, and lowering springs.
|
Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Oh, you're running a 16g, that puts you into SM regardless of your other mods.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
It's blown. I just got a good condition 14b. I'm lovin the response of the 14b on the track too.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
An intercooler, exhaust and springs would put you into Street Prepared.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
Bit of an update. Built my own COP setup, easy as shit and have great results. Car feels much stronger over-all, more responsive, and just all around better.

Re: Getting the Laser ready for AutoX
That's a pretty clean 1g you have there man. Nice ride.
