That's what I have now, just not Kracka brand.

I still have the PCV on the main can so not sure if having a check valve before and after the can is hurting anything or not--it certainly fills up fast enough. As you know, the PCV on the X is the hose fitting on the valve cover. I've thought about removing that and finding a straight-thru fitting for it.

Mike,

I did realize that is what you had already, it is not uncommon to have mutiple vents on the valve cover, maybe just adding a second port would be work? Just trying to help, id just hate to see you spend money on something that may or may not work well.

Yeah, Ron mentioned that as a possibility. I am just not so crazy about testing theories that involve drills. That also wouldn't be inexpensive for me since I wouldn't be comfortable doing it myself.

99.9% sure this isnt a theory, it does work and I can help you with this. :) Not a problem!

Alrighty. I know it is commonly done on the 4G's so I'll have to look for some write-ups on what they've done. I assume I'd need a different type of catch can and some fittings.

Sirius finally disabled the free subscription that came with the car. I got 14 months, not sure how long it was supposed to be. heh.

Kracka 11-03-2010 01:11 PM

Re: Evo X upgrades

Lucky! They cut mine off shortly past the 3 month mark. Seems like I get a letter from them daily though asking me to subscribe. So far they're offering 6 months free if i sign up for a year.

mlomker 11-03-2010 01:23 PM

Re: Evo X upgrades

Yeah, I called them up and got another 6 months for free. lol. It must have been activated under the dealership's account for the last 14 months.

At least that Milwaukee dealer's incompetence isn't limited in scope.

Damn you! I thought I'd have mine for a while but it got killed a month or so after I bought the car.

Pulled the NAV and I don't see anything wrong, wiring-wise. I guess that'll be my car's first visit to a dealer. I've never heard of Mitsu voiding the electrical system warranty but my car is a bit extreme. haha.

Anyone familiar with the dealer in WBL? I guess I'll give `em a call and see what's up.

Welp, looks like I sold those ID2000 injectors today. If the money comes through on Monday then a tune attempt on the DW1300s will be happening this month.

Seeing Shane on Wednesday. Having a proper tune for the first time since March would be, umm, nice.

Bout time :) Crossing my fingers that all your fueling problems are resolved.

All it took was Dave to tell you to sell some of your fuel system inventory.. and it sold in like 2 minutes. Good luck on the dyno.

I had those injectors listed on evoXforums for a month and wasn't getting any traction. It sold instantly when I posted it to the Evo 8/9 forum on EvoM...there are just more 8/9 guys making the power to necessitate 2200cc injectors.

Re: Evo X upgrades

Can't say I've ever been nervous about a tune appointment before. I don't wanna cry. :(

haha. If it goes well then I can focus on the oil leak & burning issue (seems to be some of both).

FattyBoomBatty 11-16-2010 11:44 PM

Re: Evo X upgrades

I hate oil leaks. Mine drips from a known, hard to fix location, and makes the exhaust black, and prevents rust. For that feature alone, I'd recommend keeping the oil drip. Carry a piece of carboard with you if you don't want to mess up anyone's driveway.

Good luck tomorrow, and I have to say, how can you have never been nervous at a tune session before? Maybe because mine's always involved some huge change and no one in the SQ community is making power like me and talking about it, but I'm a nervous wreck every time I've been on the dyno, even dyno days.

I'm not breaking new ground on power levels for a X. I also use to have enough funds to weather any storm but the storm took care of that. lol.

My 'worry' at this point is that the fueling problem still exists. I'm ready to move on to other things.

Re: Evo X upgrades

haha. Went to Champps and Shane showed up a bit later.

Was an epic day. 11-7 on this thing.

We had:
1) UICP blown off on both ends
2) lubricated the dyno and my engine bay
3) run out of 1000cc injector
4) run out of Bosch 044
5) mysterious voltage drop with BAP

#5 was resolved by changing my vacuum source. The Hobbs switch used by the BAP somehow got confused by my using the wastegate vacuum line. We switched it to the afpr line and it was finally happy.

God it's nice having a tuned car again! The part-throttle response on the DW1300s is awesome. The injectors seem to be everything that I'd hoped for.

My normal tune is 427hp/331tq @25psi. Here's a graph showing the mess that I rolled in with and how it turned out.

Here's the 30psi tune:

Was the tune you rolled in on Ron's tune?

Nope, every time Shane went to tune the car we had fueling problems. He made the AFRs safe and that's what I've been hobbling around on for the last 4-5 months.

^1300's didn't exist for the X before a few months ago skippy ;)

Finally! Congrats man! I want a ride. This is on snow tires too right? Goddamn great great numbers at only 30psi! Wonder what this thing would do at 35psi or so.... I bet on summer tires on e85 it would be a lot closer to the elusive 500; that would be pretty awesome!

Good work man, now enjoy it!

For quite some time your choices in X injectors were 1000 and 2200 with nothing in-between. As you know, I tried the ID2000s but they never ran perfectly. Now you can get the DW1300s and the FIC Bluemax but the FIC require pigtails.

Yup, stock wheels with snows and E70. The change from 25 to 30 psi wasn't too impressive so I'm not sure that 35 would be worthwhile. Shane said he was running quite a bit of timing and didn't advise bumping the boost.

I have an Omni 4bar on the shelf but my next goal is to figure out the oil smoke-screen issue. It's enough power for me.

I see. Thanks for that explanation. This new car thing is a doozy.

Car looked good on teh highway, danger ranger couldn't keep it in sight for too long.

The Omni is a painless switch, LMK if you want help doing that.

So... after I fixed it at the FMIC and it couldn't blow off there anymore, it said 'fuck you' and blew off at the turbo? I bet that one was a little bit easier to put back on, lol.
