Over the past couple of days I've been working on blacking out the headlight housings. What a pain in the ass!! But, in the end, it turned out really nice.

Looks awesome! But what is with the Ricer King removing chrome from headlights? j/k

Did you have to bake them to separate the glue and all that?
After just over a year of ownership, how do you like it? Do you daily drive it now that summer is here? How many miles have you put on it?

Edit: I haven't seen you in forever, maybe August 10th when I'll be up there?

At first, I tried putting the headlight into the oven, but it wasn't working well. I was also afraid of melting the lens causing distortion.

I ended up using a heat gun on medium setting. I was able to soften the rubber sealant enough to pull the lens and housing apart. It was a pain in the ass, and I don't think I'll ever again.

I still really like the car. I've had no real issues, only one recall for the brake switch. I've put about 7,000 miles on the car (didn't drive it in the Winter).

Let's catch up when you are in town!

Re: Ricer Pete's GenCoupe

So a couple of weeks ago I installed a Dynojet CMD, which is a piggyback for the stock ECU. I went up to Shane @ DB this afternoon, and had him work his magic.

Shane - I'm sorry we had some issues with connecting to the CMD. Thanks for being patient and letting us work the issues out!

I can definitely feel the changes and the boost kicking in faster. We bumped it up from an average of 11.5 PSI to 15-16 PSI. Shane didn't want to turn it up anymore because he was getting some knock.

Overall, I'm happy with the results for the money I spent. I know its not 600+ hp like most people on here (Scheides!) but we shall see what comes next. :)

Re: Ricer Pete's GenCoupe

So this evening I had something very strange happen. I haven't had any issues what so ever since the tune on Monday. The car feels great, but...

I drove the car to the gas station to get some coffee, everything was absolutely normal. I got back into the car and tried it start it, and it did, but it immediately bogged down and stalled. I tried four or five times and the same thing. The car just would not idle.

I popped the hood, and checked all of the sensors that I touched when I installed the CMD. Everything looked good. I pulled the power from the CMD, tried to start the car and it died again. I put power back to the CMD and tried to start it... and it fired up no problem, idled perfectly, and no CEL. So I have some investigating to do to figure out just what the hell happened.

Think maybe the power source was just loose maybe?
